  1. I've still got 4-5 months left at the least for my MP. Very nice and congrats!
  2. Any suggestions on how to anchor the receiver without damaging anything? I was using Prvi Partizan 124gr brass case ammo. I will check the extractor when I go to the shop Monday to tighten the barrel nut. Bolt is an original bolt, not reclaimed from DEWAT. Sounds like I'll just have to live with the stock wobble, then. No biggie.
  3. Hi all! Got to shoot my MP40 for the first time this past Sunday. It's still in jail, but the shop that's handling the F4 does MG shoots periodically and had no problem bringing it out for me. Ran about 300 rounds through it. Had a few mags that ran perfectly, but had more malfunctions than I would've liked...The bad thing is that I can't say that it was for sure magazine issues because, when I finished shooting the last mag, we noticed that the barrel nut had loosened to where I could screw it on and off with my hand...I'm not sure how that could've happened. I'm going to purchase a new crush washer and tighten it down. Can anyone comment on how tight it should be and what the best method to do that would be? It is the simplified 2 sided nut and I DO have the notch cut in the magazine well. Now onto the malfunctions. Mostly had an issue with spent casings not ejecting all the way out of the port, falling back into the receiver, and stopping up the bolt. That was as easy as removing the mag and dumping the spent cases out to fix, but I feel that it should not be happening...Secondly, I had a few issues with the bolt ramming the last round or so into the receiver wall instead of feeding properly and pushing the bullet head into the casing. Finally, I had an issue with the top round trying to pop out of the magazine when inserting it into the gun (loaded to 25-30 rounds, not fully loaded). That last one seems to be a magazine issue, but I'm also wondering if the ejector is not installed correctly and hitting the rim of the top round, causing it to flip up in the mag. I will be going up to the gun shop next monday to address the barrel nut issue, but any help would be greatly appreciated. The last thing I would like to mention is that there is a lot of up-and-down stock wobble. It sounds like stocks aren't commonly tight on these guns, but I thought it would be somewhat tighter than it is. When I press the stock button, the stock will fall freely with no effort at all. When it is locked open, there is a good 1/2 to 1" of up-and-down play in the stock. Does anyone know a way to tighten this up? New button and spring? Is the stock overly difficult to disassemble? Thanks again, guys! I wish I could take the gun home and fix it, but sadly it's looking like March or April before it'll be approved. Below are a few pics from the shoot. I'm dressed in my 5th Gebirgsjager impression because the shop was holding a costume contest at the shoot. I won
  4. Thanks for the input. I picked up two Danish MP40 mags and six Vigneron mags, and the gun is coming with two German MP40 mags, so I'll be alright on magazines. I'm waiting til I actually get the gun so I can hand fit the Vig mags, though. From comparing the two, it doesn't seem like much needs to be done. Just shaving down the sides to fit the MP40 mag well. We shall see, I suppose.
  5. Cool, thanks. I've heard some people say they've gotten Vig mags to work perfectly as long as you fit them to the mag well.
  6. Hi all!! New to the board. Just bought my first machine gun, a S&S tube MP40 on a non-matching bnz 43 kit. It's actually Craig Gottleib's gun that he got from Ruben Mendiola. I believe he's mentioned it on this board before. Anyway, so the gun is coming with a couple mags and a spare barrel. I believe he said the spare barrel was also German, but I can't remember. I also purchased 6 Vigneron mags and two Danish MP40 mags from a member here. So now, besides a sling and some other accessories, I feel like I need to focus on stocking up on some ammo and mags while I'm waiting on the gun to finally be in my hands. So on to my questions: 1. What type of ammo should I be looking to stock up on? I've been reading that these guns were designed for full load 124gr+ ammo, but I've also read things contrary to that. Do they generally cycle well with the lighter 115 or should I opt for heavier loads? Any preferred ammunition brands? I'd of course like to go cheapest by the case that won't blow up my gun, as I plan on shooting it quite a bit 2. On magazines...I've read through a few of the many mag threads here and it seems that Vig mags are almost identical to MP40 mags except they are thicker where they insert into the mag well. Would it be pretty easy for me to just use a belt sander and convert them myself? Is that the only place that I have to mess with to get it to work? I'll have the mags in the next week or so, but I don't want to mess with them until I get the gun so I can fit them to it. 3. The gun that I'm getting has the sling loop on the left side. I'd like to change this back to the original orientation on the right (as I'm right handed and when I start re-enacting with this gun, I'd like the charging handle to not dig in my back). Do I need to replace the crush washer when I do this or should it be good? I want to pick up some spare parts during my wait and wanted to see if this should be included in them. Thanks in advance! I'm super excited and any help on these questions or other things I should know as a new MP40 owner is greatly appreciated. I'll post some pics that I got off the seller's website soon. Edit: So, just got a call from Craig. There was a mix up that worked out in my favor and he offered me the same price for another MP40 on a Phoenix tube and a matching, fxo 1941 dated kit. Woo!!!
