Hello All: I had the good fortune to purchase a good quantity of Thompson Early Parts, Magazines and Drums. I need help enlightening me on some of these parts. First lets start with a 1928 actuator. The knob is bright blue and a thin band of checkering. Is this a 1921 converted to a 1928? Next are 3 1921 Actuators, I am pretty sure the two that are alike are original Colt and the third one is visibly different.having a hole in it and looking unfinished Lastly I am told that this silver colored one is a foreign copy Next the Blish locks. 3 look to be colt, one is marked AO and one marked Savage. The unfinished looking one has no markings 1921 Buffers and Pilots- Some Fit Flush into Each Other- Is that because the ones that are not flush are missing the Buffet Pad? Thanks for all your help!!

Hi All, while shooting my M3, a faulty mag got a round loose and and before i knew it , it has gotten behind the bolt. After removing the barrel, the next step is to remove the metal clip from the grip. U tube videos dont explain anything but show it coming out the grip side and piviting down to remove it.I finally got it out and cant get the bolt out or the trigger housing to remove Any suggestions??? There are no u tube videos with sound and the ones i saw are animated. Thanks in advance\ Haris1 I got it out Damn! those spring clips are harder than xxxx to get out Maybe after 70 years it was stuck!! Happy ending

I can find the 740 on the web site but not the 741... I called , I e mailed , i sent a text,. they dont respond. Not a good way to keep customers No call back and i left messages -
I got mine at $8700 from a guy on gunbroker who bought it new in 2011 just when they redesigned it to take drums. ts very ingenious in that anyone can change a barrel or anything in it. I can enjoy feel of a M1a1 and not do any wear and tear to a real M1a1. Ask Petroleum 1. And yes they have a stiffer spring that will slow it down. Next time I shoot it, I will have a timer and get its cyclic rate.

For a Great Price I had to try this variant. Has a GI AO Lower and thats where the similariy ends. Its a round tube housed inside a square receiver, the tube being the registered part. Built like a tank and runs flawlessly. Just a toy and investment but interesting variant and fun. Springs available to change the cyclic rate.. You can mount an optic on a picatinny rail, quick change barrels. Very ingenious machining. Early gun, serial number less than 100. And BRP corp will inspect it for nothing and only charge you for parts needed but it runs like a "sewing machine"!! My receiver does have that grey look. Next is a drum video

Fellow Forum members,I will describe what My WW2 M1a1 is Doing. When I release the trigger, it usually will go to slide lock. Sometimes I get 1-2 extra rounds. Yesterday I got 4 or 5 after releasing the trigger Ammo was Factory 230 Grain Ball, Remington, federal, Speer None of my other TSMGs do that Any thoughts would be appreciated Thanks Haris357

There is a West Hurley 1928 on Gunbroker now serial 2798a.Ad says FBI owned but no documentation This would be 1986 Production. Please correct me but my understanding is that FBI was not buying Thompsons as late as the mid 80's. I thought they destroyed them before that. If its cheap enough, might not be a bad price for a shooter. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/776532178

New To Me 1928A1 AO
Grease Gunner replied to Grease Gunner's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
That one is S-238260 which is from a Savage.Since Savage made 200,000 1928s before AO made their first one, the savage lower may be close in Vintage -
Picked up a AO 1928a1 as a "shooter" Mechanically it looks great aside from having two buffers in it which I will replace after shooting it the way it came. It does have a Savage lower which is not common according to all that I have read. Looks like it saw British use as per location of sling swivels. Kind of a low serial number 56,000 Any members have an idea of when manufactured? It seems from Page 155 of American Thunder, its around Feb 1941

There is a seller on Gunbroker who sells 1928 Thompsons assembled with Phila ordance receivers with WW2 parts kits and offers two buffers. Here is verbatim their claim. Once again it is manufactured using original WWII parts. The recoil spring has been replaced with a brand new “Wolf” spring to give you years of trouble free operation. The original fiber buffer washer is included as are 2 modern manufactured Urethane buffers. The red urethane buffer mimics the original rate of fire; the black urethane buffer increases the cyclic rate to 1921 fun levels! They are called Rat-worx USA in Illinois Yes my red bufffers are older WW2 ones

Just received a WWII Auto Ordnance 1928A1( will post pics tomorrow) Stripped it down to see if it was clean and it was but noticed two recoil buffers behind the pilot and pondered whether I should leave them in or not. Seller said it ran like a sewing machine so maybe I should shoot it as it is, Any input would be appreciated. Looks Like This Saw British Use. Will Post More and Better Pics Tomorrow

Didler, I bought barrels from GunpartsCorp, a front sight and had barrels swapped out using the Lightweight Kahr models. Not a bog deal for any gunsmith I did both a Lightweight M1 and another to a M1927 so it would look like a true M1928. Both with 11 inch barrels were NFA and require stamps but with an alloy receiver and short barrel , It feels so right!!! If you want to get serious I can guide you thru the process. And I sold off the origiinal barrels to defray the cost. http://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=21231&hl=

Seller claims 9488 shipped in 1930 to PD. Enlighten me...Whats not original about it? I talked to Seller who is selling for an Estate. The Former owner passed away.. Same seller sold one about a week ago that was a NAC manufactured gun in the 50s on a colt receiver. That one brought $25k which surprised me!! https://www.gunbroker.com/item/767510762 I guess I misunderstood you when you say not "colt stock" do you mean the buttstock or that the gun is just not original???

I clicked class 3 and scrolled thru all of them and counted 15 if you count West Hurleys. I did ask them if all those colts came from a collection and the answer was that they were from an estate, When there are so many, it will be interesting to see the results. My guess is that so many will water down the prices since early bidders have spent their budget so maybe the later guns in this auction will be had at bargain prices.Just my take.
