  1. Hi Folks, I have a M1a1 that I just got, and went out to shoot it. In semi mode, it works perfectly. In Full mode however, It shoots one ,maybe two extra rounds after I remove my finger from the triigger. Does anyone have any ideas? ALso serial number is 327427. How do I find out who made it and when? I appreciate all the help since I am new at this .Also, the wood is horrible. Anyone have any wood sets for sale?? Thanks Haris

  3. Fellow members.: As we all know the price of pre1986 fully transferable guns are out the roof. I have always longed for a grease gun. The few times I have shot one, I found them pleasant to shoot.I am on the hunt but cautious. But I have to ask, has anyone had experience with shooting 1000s of rounds out of one?. Whats the worst that can go wrong?. Are parts obtainable? Is that even an issue.? Sometimes when I look at designs, they seem flimsy I may be wrong but a MK760 seems like a firearm that is not built to last. Any and all input is greatly appreciated. Thanks Haris357
  4. Need a Complete Buttstock with plate, and Mounting screws, sling swivel. Can Be a repro.PM me Thanks!!
  5. Hi All: When one purchases a NFA Weapon, the seller will be retaining possession for as long as 8 months while the buyer waits for the form 4 to go through. I am totally not used to long term transactions! What should the buyer get from the seller? Are there canned "sales agreements" out there? I am in the process of buying one thats brokered and I am supposed to pay 100% now since thats customary in NFA.The sale is being brokered. Broker informed me that the seller does not want to disclose his phone number. I think thats unusual. Thoughts? All comments and suggestions welcomed. Thanks Haris
  6. Kahr wants something like 300 for the 10.5. Is there anywhere else, like maybe a surplus barrel? I would buy 2 of them.
  7. I have access to 07 class 3 mfrs in my area. I was thinking of giving them a M1 with 16 inch barrel, letting them chop it to 10.5 and remounting the sight. Any thoughts on this???
  8. wow: I think that looks great. To have the look, balance andc just shoot it semi is very attractive. May I ask about what it cost after completion? Thanks!
  9. Thank you Black River, I have come to find out thru a few calls to west virginia and talking to some 07's that I know that you are 100% correct. Thank you !
  10. Guys, on this question I cannot seem to get a definitive answer. There are situations when SOT;s with post 86 samples are quitting. Can a 01FFL with SOT buy these samples with no law letter and only transfer them to government agencies or another SOT? Or does he have to be an 07/SOT to get them? I was told there is a relaxation in the regs to aid a SOT to dispose of his samples without a law letter to help him dispose of his inventory Any insight would help I know its in 475.105 of the regs but I dont understand it Thanks Haris
  11. Buzz, Thank you for the correction- You are 100% right on. I forgot that the first shot has no gun time. Changed my calculation downward by 5%
  12. Kilroy, you have shown 100% improvement over some of the darker pictures that you originally posted. You have the hang of it now and found that the secret is in the lighting. I have friends who get outstanding pics but they use natural light when its late afternoon and a little overcast. I dont have the luxury of doing that since if I laid out any guns in the late afternoon outside, the blue lights would be comin for me!!!
  13. I have been selling off many handguns that I bought as an investment. Since better pictures on gun auctions draw higher prices, I did lots of experimenting, cameras, light boxes, studio lights, backgrounds, etc. I settled on studio lights pointing at a white background. The studio lights are loaded with daylight bulbs and they are enclosed in a tent for light diffusion. My camera Sony RX 100 II. It has loads of capabilities.I love the Preview feature! I edit nothing, no photoshop,no cropping, I post direct to a hosting service. The single most important component is light. Who would want to buy a gun on auction with dark pics? Thats when you get burned!! I shoot manual mode usually 1/80th to 100th speed, f stop of F8, iso is 1600 . I know you guys will say too high on ISO, but my pics are good.
  14. Here are some recent auction prices realized including 15% Buyers Premium at Rock Island Sept 2016 M1a1 Thompson with mismatched trigger housing group number $29,750 M2 Inland 18515 M2 postal Meter Converted 9257 Reising Model 50 7935 http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1024x768q90/922/uQ3U7i.jpg
  15. Here is how to calculate in a foolproof way the cyclic rate. Use a pact or other timer. When the beep starts and the shooter fires......The timer will definitely get the first and last shot but not all the shots in between It is IMPERATIVE you count the rounds to be fired and subtract 1 , or use a 30 round mag and subtract how many were not fired in your burst Whats important to all this is to know the timer records when the first shot goes off and when the last shot goes. Subtract and thats your interval(the burst time) Then divide the seconds by the number of rounds fired and dont count the first round since we are working with the burst time which is the time between the 1st shot and the last, hence the reason we do not count the first round when we divide. There is no gun time related to the first shot. It's just is a starting point on the timer Example first round fired in .40 seconds, last shot fired at 2.30. Subtracting will yield 1.9 seconds for the string We know the shooter fired 21 rounds. Thats 1.9 seconds for 20 rounds=10.52 per second x 60= 631 RPM Simple math tells you divide the time by the number of rounds fired less one to get how many you fire in a second, then multiply x 60 to get cyclic rate Conversely, a 600 rpm rate will fire on average 10 per second - in 2 seconds 20 would be fired- 10 per second x 60= 600 rmp Hope this helps. I have been doing this on AR-15s for years with slide fire stocks and I get 500 to 550 per minute. Poor mans M16!!!
  16. Any Links you can send on a TSMG plate shoot? That sounds like the Most Fun!!!
  17. David, I called Mr Mendiola and found him both very informative and personable. I am glad to make his contact. He suggested that I get a pre may sample since I have a SOT, That may be what I will do considering the prices of the ones fully transferable. Anyway, I am still struggling in my search. Its so more more than trying to find a handgun which you can acquire quickly , cheaply and if it doesnt suit you, you can move it on and get something else, Not so in the world of NFA!! thanks to all Haris
  18. Hello All: I am a newbie to this forum and look forward to learning as much as I can, I have always admired Thompsons and seeing the prices rise, I have decided to sell off handguns and buy a couple of them. The classic look of the M1a1 is so appealing I would love to own a US Property Marked One not a West Hurley recreation. What Price range do they sell in and are they like handguns that a purchaser should avoid refinished ones ? With Smith and Wessons, refinishing kills the values Before the M1 and M1a1s were issued werent there many 1928a1s put into service? I found a picture of a 1928 with the military front sight and a horizontal foregrip on wikipedia. Are these hard to find and again what price range do they travel in? http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1024x768q90/922/bsOadM.jpg So far, all I look at is gunbroker and dont really know which dealers are reputable and which ones have selections to choose from. Any and all input will be greatly appreciated Thank you.
