  1. The MGZ optic in that same auction was nice. Did anyone here buy it? https://centurionauctions.hibid.com/lot/90963461/wwii-german-g--heyde-m-g--z-36-scope-with-case?cpage=12 This loader was also a nice find: https://centurionauctions.hibid.com/lot/90963492/wwii-german-saddle-drum-magazine-loader?cpage=13 Yeah, after owning an original doppeltrommel topcover, the repros are easy to spot.
  2. Wow, sounds like you got some good deals. Have you got a spare recoil spring tube? Pretty sure I still have one, maybe even has a spring in it. Let me know if you have interest.
  3. I had an original top cover and a real MG34 drum. Sold the drum for $6k and the top cover for $2.2k about 10 years ago when I sold my C&R MG34. It all worked like a charm and DT15 drums also worked perfectly too. I even had the loader assembly with the wood base and winder as you have pictured. I had the winding keys too. Sold it all to Ryan Schnee including a minty 34 lafette, a Portuguese parts kit and a panzermantel front end. The MG34 sure had a lot of bits and pieces to collect. Cincylance
  4. Anybody know what this Thompson fetched at auction and who the lucky new owner is? Cincylance
  5. I sold my exc condition MG34 tripod in 2012 for $5k. The price for this one does not seem out of line considering it is 100% correct and not jacked with. Does it include the straps? What is the original color under the gelb? Interesting fact: the Lafette tripod cost more for the Wehrmacht back in the day than the MG34 itself! Cincylance

  7. OK Thompson collectors, Here's your chance to own a rather rare and inexpensive Thompson accessory. I have one original cardboard box for a WW2 era Thompson L drum. I believe it originally contained a Bridgeport drum, but I have no proof of that. There are no markings on the box. It is made in three pieces. The outer sleeve has cloth tape that is beginning to lift in one corner. All pieces are sound. There is however some water damage as can be seen in the pics. You can also easily see where each piece made contact with the drum sides, rotor, etc. Price is SOLD PENDING within the 48 states. Shipping elsewhere may be additional. PayPal accepted, but a 4% fee will be added to cover PayPal's fees. Please email me if interested. Thanks, Cincylance Cincinnati, Ohio cincylance@fuse.net http://home.fuse.net/Cincylance/cincylance/DrumBox01.jpg http://home.fuse.net/Cincylance/cincylance/DrumBox02.jpg
  8. Your gun sounds like mine! Mine is in the S264,XXX range. I believe mine is marked just as your is. There's nothing quite like an ol' Thompson. Cincylance http://home.fuse.net/Cincylance/TommyGun_01_LR.jpg

Arty? Who is Arty? Do I know him? Cincylance Wecome to Arty's world...... Oh, OK....Autrhur Fliegersomething. He hangs out on Sturgewehr.com and is ALWAYS arguing "Thompsons" with Bubba Naess of Black River Militaria--although Bubba always wins (at least in my book.) I bought the drum off Sturmgewehr.com and not off Auction Arms. I paid $950 for it with a WW2 pouch....but what is it worth in today's market? I don't plan to sell it, just trying to get a realistic actual selling price and a retail price. Thanks, Cincylance http://home.fuse.net/Cincylance/TommyGun_01_LR.jpg (my Savage Lend Lease 1928A1)
  10. QUOTE (gijive @ Feb 2 2006, 04:42 PM) QUOTE (Cincylance @ Feb 2 2006, 04:34 PM)I'm not sure. Maybe you can tell from this pic... Hi, If you are referring to the rotor, you have to take the cover off so I can see it in the picture. The X-ray feature on my Windows XP software isn't functioning properly, must be a virus http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif Whoops! For some reason I was thinking winding key, not rotor. The rotor is blued. Cincylance

  13. I recently bought a Colt-era "L" drum off Sturmgewehr.com. I believe it is a first-type Wooster drum with no serial numbers and no "NO" stampings. This info is based on the article done recently in Small Arms Review. I am NOT a drum expert. The finish looks totally original with considerable wear on all edges. It is not marked with the large "WIND....CLICKS" info that appears on the face of WW2 era drums. It also has wear on the inside where bullets sat in the same spot for a long time and wore the blueing in the shape of the back of the casing....probably from vibration, being loaded and riding in the trunk of a police car for years. I'm wondering if I got a good deal. The price was $950 and that included a WW2 drum pouch. Cincylance Here's a pic. http://home.fuse.net/Cincylance/TommyDrum.jpg
  14. Geodkyt is right on the money with his information. 80% receivers are commonly built into post sample weapons. That is the real purpose of manufacturing them in the first place. If you build an 80% receiver into a dummy gun, be sure it cannot accept a bolt or chamber live ammunition. Remember, the receiver is the registered part on a MG, so make sure it cannot be construed as a live MG. Your safe bet is to do as Geodkyt says and get an alum. dummy receiver. Good luck, Cincylance http://home.fuse.net/cincylance/mp40LL.JPG
