  1. I went through all that with mine too. Take a close (magnified) look at the channel where the spring goes, make sure there's no shavings left over from drilling and that the slot is uniform. Little things mean a lot here so take your time. As I recall mine had a slight ramp to it that I cleaned up and squared off which made a big difference. Good luck.
  2. Scroll down the main page to the your opinions thread, you will find some more input there, much in line with what has been posted here
  3. SNAFU --- Maybe you could hire on there & help them out, if they ever discover what QC means.
  4. Maybe their sales are down to the point that they have time to pay attention to such things.
  5. They might not know of the problem yet, just a thought. If they don't know it by now...…..They will never, never, never know it.
  6. That's all well & good but on a brand new piece I think they should be held to make good on the warranty. How else are they going to know there is a problem? If everyone does as you suggest they will continue to crank out crap for a premium price.
  7. I have a Kahr TM1 (Aluminum reciever) that took 2 trips back to the factory before it would function reliably (or safely for that matter). It also shot very low which I fixed myself Since getting it back the last time I have had no function problems other than loosening rear sight screws of which 1 has stripped out(they could have at least used a common thread @ the expense of reproduction accuracy here). This is the only gun that I have ever bought just to have fun with & it is very much that. It's a ball plinking with this thing, everybody loves it. I would advise to go with the steel receiver models if you buy one. I also have a Kahr CW45 pistol that has been good. The Tommy will most likely be my last A/O Kahr purchase as it didn't do much for my confidence of quality(quality control) in their products. The willingness to toss out apparently un-checked products to let the consumer sort out is one thing for a fun-gun, a no go for a defensive arm.
  8. Welcome aboard. I wouldn't do any milling back there either. Making a plate yourself isn't very hard. I made one from aluminum to raise it for sighting in. Use the original sight as a pattern to cut - drill a piece of flat stock then mark that to drill for the new sight. If new plate is the same thickness you can re-use the original screws.
  9. Mine had a flat spot on the face/rim of the bolt when it was acting up, I think their hardening process leaves a lot to be desired.
  10. Bought mine as a basket case & spent a year building it in my bedroom. Yea, lots of good times & I think the Tommy guns are a lot like them. Just got to learn where to tickle her.
  11. Welcome aboard. '57 Pan rider here. I would advise you to shoot it as soon as possible with a variety of ammo & magazines, observing closely for any problems. If anything seems wrong contact Kahr asap & get the ball rolling for them to make corrections. It could take more than one trip back to get it right.
  12. It sounds like you haven't test fired it yet? Was this the first trip back to Kahr? In my experience the first trip is to the part swapper, hopefully that will be all your problem requires.
  13. It took 2 trips for mine. The first time it just went to the part swappers bench & I don't think they bothered to test it. It took a second go-round to actually get corrected. Good luck with yours.
  14. I had that with mine. Took 2 trips back to Kahr to get it fixed. Not really sure what all they did. I don't recall if large or small primers made a difference. Maybe the Blazer primers are a little harder? ( I've been told that CCI's tend to be)
  15. Fired another 50 today with no malfunction. 47 recovered with 1 blackened deep primer hit. Re did the peep hole mod & some front blade filing & it now shoots POA, even got a couple 2 hole 3 shot groups.
  16. UPDATE to the ongoing saga of my Kahr. Got it back wed. & test fired 100 rnds today. Based on the parts swap list & actions taken on the return sheet I was skeptical. Said they adjusted the feed lips (which they said the first time) but all 3 still had sloppy fit as before. They also said accuracy tested ok, target included which was not. I had 2 boxes of 2 brands ammo, loaded mag 1 up with 20 & it jammed on the 6th rnd. off the left side, cocked like it got away from the bolt & it got on top of the rnd. I thought "here we go again" pulled back on the bolt, let it drop in the chamber & let it rip. That was the only hiccup. For the first time I actually had fun with my fun gun. Even did some rapid fire. It still shoots 7" low but I can take care of most of that by filling in the peep hole & drilling a 5/64th peep at the top as before (I un-did it before sending it back). All shots fired holding the fore-grip, not the mag & all 3 mag's worked fine. Checked mag 1 again with no prob. Of the 97 cases recovered all primer strikes were normal, even the ejection pattern was more consistent. Hot damn! They did some polishing at the bottom of the feed ramp, replaced pawl spring sear block & trigger assy. There is indication that the front sight pin was taken out (didn't bother to touch it up- or clean it) so I'm thinking maybe they turned in on it some or replaced it or the receiver, there's also some shiny where the barrel meets the receiver that I don't recall seeing before & the top of the receiver looks flatter to the straight edge than before, no gap above the eject port as mentioned by 95mustang. So, to all my fellow new Kahr owners, there is hope. To quote the old Indian fellow in The Outlaw Jose Wales movie, you must "endeavor to perceiver". Thanks to everyone here for your responses, you've been a great help. Mike
  17. Is he saying he went into battle with only 1 magazine? That's scary.
