Does standard 45 ammo work with the M6

Hi all, I recently purchased one of these and in the 2 times I have taken it out Ive gotten squib rounds both times within a few mags of each other. Using standard ammo. Brass is chewed up pretty bad after I get it out. Anyone have any ideas on where to begin diagnosing this issue? All help greatly appreciated!
