  1. I was wondering about the smaller diameter..I was thinking the muzzle end. LOL.....never thought you meant the threaded wnd.....makes perfect sense now.
  2. If so I found a box of magazines in my office....and would love to find them a home with an appreciative firearm
  3. I have three total, one marked Cutts , .487 ID on the nose, the other two (unmarked and one marked with Thompson logo) measure .477 with a caliper...... And TD, Thank you for the info...I can make 'em run like a sewing machine.....but just getting around to the education on what is and is not correct. So glad I found this board.
  4. This is the only one I have that would qualify...all the others have the Cutts logo and are known to be from a 1928. Unfortunately no front sight. Will have to research value. Let me know if this fits the bill....you can call me at Macon Armory 478 474-2990 Rudy
  5. I have several compensators in my parts bin....will look and see if I have the one you need.....
  6. Would be greatly appreciated....was getting ready to buy a butchered kit to get one......and last thing I need is more Random M38 stuff....LOL....
  7. I have spare bands and swivels......but missing the nut.....I can make if you don't have.......
  8. I have several cocking knobs.....and still looking for a box of parts.....that is somewhere in one of the black holes in the old shop building....I have one of the broken sheet metal shrouds that worst case I will have to borrow a friends square wave tig and try and put together......20 years ago I could tig a hole in a beer can......not so much these days.....hands aren't nearly as steady and eyes not as sharp. Give me a shout at the shop (www.maconarmory.com) if you finds one or two you can part with.....I have stuff I can trade or money to buy.....LOL....I know I have spare reciever end caps and trigger giards and barrel bands and some fire control stuff......
  9. Just ordered some MP40 stuff there, didn't see any Beretta M38/42/43/44 stuff.....have a link perhaps? Repop is fine, these are gonna be postie shooters
  10. Actually need a couple if I can find them. Have a significant number of spares for other components to trade including 38 barrel live, with shroud. Rudy
  11. I checked my stock...I have two slide plates, one has the flapper and no button, one is just the frame. You are welcome to either but Apex has the complete assembly on the website.
  12. Pretty sure I have a spare set of the slide hardware.....or at least most of it......I just spent weeks tracking down a butt plate and screws......and the only one I found had a hole in it that will need to be welded and refinished...........
  13. Thank you very much........I sent in a request through your website. I'll be waiting patiently. If you like call me......we have a local dealer here in Macon with a building thast is roughly 300 feet long and 100 feet wide FULL of old Iron, Be happy to scout it and see if he has any decent Horizontals. Rudy
  14. Back to the original question Bob, will you be continuing production ....Have sent in several requests and no reply I would like to purchase an MP40 tube and an M1 "dummy", priority on the MP40. I really don't have time to mke one but will if I have to. I'd REALLY prefer one of yours. Thanks, Rudy
  15. Pics of what you have? Just did a little research and it looks like it would shoot with out the endcap, the endcap is tension fit and looks to be relatively simple to make. Is this going to be a semi rebuild or a postie? Reweld or new tube? If making a tube I'd probably machine a shallow grove and make the fingers on the replacement cap fit into it. Check out this video at about 12:15
  16. As progress is moving along...Just realized I have no mags for this......in search of one reasonably priced functional mag to test with.....or three or four if they are real resonable LOL
  17. Definitely interested in the tool as well :-) Any chance you could send contact and purchase info to rudyk@maconarmory.com ?
  18. Phase convertors are a pain in the ass,,,,,,,for $99.00 you can buy a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) on Amazon that will easily run a Bridgeport, or ANY knee mill for that matteror small lathe......helping a friend now getting his knife shop set up with VFD's. Fortunatel I have 3 phase at the shop......can't imagine what my power bill would be with single.
  19. I've fixed a couple. What I have done in the past is clip coils as mentioned above and made an extended cocking handle. Pretty simple to do and greatly reduces the strain on the hand. What amazes me about these is they took a gun that uses one light recoil spring and turned it into three springs, 2 recoil and a striker. What should have been done is for the designer to realize that the striker spring becomes a recoil spring when the striker is in the fired position. I have an idea to make one that uses the original recoil spring and adds a simple striker system that is pretty close to internal to the bolt. It is on my to do list to fab a complete replacement system if I can ever get some help in the shop, guess I need to start looking for one to buy to play with.I'll get to it one of these days
  20. In light of current ATF shenanigans/bullshit, has Reconbob made any comment about his future production? I have sent a couple of emails to get on list for a couple of display receivers , but haven't heard anything back yet. Definitely willing to wait as I have several of his products now, and am 100% pleased.........just curious if we'll have to 4473 the 80's in the future or if they are considered dummy recievers due to the technical expertise necessary to complete. I really would like to get an M1, I HAVE 2 sets of cut M1 that would be relatively simple rewelds , and 2 sets of 28 parts.....one easy the other is gonna be fun as it is basicaly missing the ejection port, but nose piece is intact. Don't mind weldin 'em just tire of making the fixture to align. Will probably part with a 28 and M1 kit one it all shakes out and I know what I have to weld vs what I can get Philly paperweights
  21. Got the magwell. It is blued and 85 to 90% original blued finish. The demilled barrel I rounded up has been resurected from the dead....turns out the plug was only 1/4 of and inch...after removing the soldered front sight assembly, tossed it in the 4 jaw drilled it, then cleaned up most of the rest with a small carbid boring bar. Then touched it with a Carbide chamber reamer and recut the feed cone. Polished with Cratex and it looks great. I faced .007 to .010 off the breech of the barrel to clean up and to allow me to run the reamer in all the way. Case protrusion is where it should be, and I will make up what I faced when I make the barrel bushing/trunnion. Internal chamber has some light pitting, but I'll shoot it and see if it causes issues, Worst case I'll sleeve it with a bushing made from 4140 and then re-chamber, best case it runs fine and I shoot it Decide to take the barrel and associated parts as well as the grip frame, and polish them and blue to match the magwell She gonna be a pretty damn nice looking Frankengun. Before and after.
  22. Would like opinions.....this is a parts gun , and at this point I'll be making the barrel and barrel bushing.....I have managed to acquire everything else. I'm thinking about bead blasting all the metal parts, and then having them done in FMC Black nitride. It is a shooter and no where near correct and will look like it is deep purple/black blue, Advantages, it have both abrasion resistance as well as lubricity from the FMC Black, and be corrosion resistant. Disadvantage it would refinish some nice condition parts with patina but no pitting. In the "extra parts the fellow sent with the lower was a demilled barrel (chamber weld) but fully populated with everything.....barrel support, muzzle protector, all the sight parts and barrel nut. Option 2, coat the new production parts.and leave the others as is.. Option 3, get some rust browning compound and brown the new parts. Down the road if I sell as a postie, what would YOU be more likely to buy?
  23. Public thanks to hawksnest.....I am squared away with a slab side MP40 magwell.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not 100% correct for my 42 marked lower....LOL, but it is a battlefield repair, that's my story and I'm stickin to it!
  24. Saw those several months ago.......but it is for an MP38. Even though this is gonna be a frankengun shooter....using an FBP bolt and buffer, making the trunnion barrel and barrel nut, and contemplating rolling a reciever tube from flat like the original in order to get the ribbed appearance...... .I'd like to have it LOOK as correct as possible.....may just cheat and mill the ribs into a reciever tube as well, will be a hell of a lot easier than making a die, pressing a flat and then rolling on a mandrel. Greatly appreciate the suggestion!
