  1. there are a few on GB right now without the sight..you can buy a reproduction sight on numrich
  2. I may try a red green approach! never thought about putting a strip of tape on it..
  3. ditto with the late savage '28. the Taiwanese C drum is very loose and wobbly. PK noticed it also. I probably should have returned it to GPC, and tried another, but no telling if I'd get the same deal. Maybe someone can tack another piece to the slide to stiffen it up. Maybe there's a better way to fix that issue. The Taiwanese L drum from GPC is perfect.
  4. I have a new 100 round drum and it's very wobbly. The slide rail seems too thin. PK examined it as well. May need too beef up the slide/rail a bit
  5. Looking for a decent WWII era Cutts with sight. All my usual go-to's are sold out. Anyone have an extra to sell? Thanks
  6. Doug followed though for me. I haven't spoken to him since April. I had already forgot about it, when a package showed up the other day. He included a nice handwritten letter and even gave me a couple of his books that I didn't have. 7 months and no reminders, and he still remembered. I commend him for remembering and following though with my purchase.
  7. didn't notice that this was a year old posting......
  8. Many years ago I delt with Damon. Horrible experience. I sent him my 1927 west hurly semi-auto and a 1928 parts kit. He was going to fit the 28 trigger frame to the 27 receiver so I could have a detachable stock, (not sbr though). I also needed him to install the 28 original cutts on my barrel and a few other small things. About a year later, I finally was able to get the rifle back. He didn't send me the unused parts from the WWII kit though. He absolutely refused to return the 10" WWII barrel that I had sent him. He said that he couldn't legally send me that barrel back! WTF. I told him to send it to my class 3 dealer, and he refused. He said it was illegal to own, period. I was pretty naive then, so I let it go. Looking back, he was such a scam artist. The rifle never fired correctly after I got it back and he never sent the wwii unused parts back. I sold that rifle for a fraction of what I put into it.
  9. If anyone is looking for nice M1 Bolts, IMA has them for under $250, plus you can google a 5% off coupon. Seems like a good deal considering what they have been going for.
  10. inertord, if you count my posts, they are not many. I had originally left it as I will update and we will see what happens. I already have a legal plan of action that I will take with this man. So I am not "crying" about it. I am simply responding to the ongoing questions and replies. You can't silence speech because it doesn't please you. I'm also not going to stay silent in an ongoing open group discussion, when my topic is being discussed. Especially when people tell me to walk away because Doug is such a legend and savior for the Thompson community. Many other people are talking about it. Are they also crying or just me because I'm a new member? Sorry to waste everyone's time with a discussion on this topic. Are people in this forum forced to read these posts? I would think if your tired of it, just don't click on the post. It sounds like Doug has a lot of good buddies here and a few of them think that Doug can do no wrong. I've see some defending his behavior. No one here caused my situation, true~ I never blamed anyone here, did I? Doug is so revered in this group, I trusted the good reviews about him. It would appear he only follows through on deals with his good buddies, and seems like he screws over the others. I have now gotten many many PMs about horrible experiences with Doug. Some don't want to talk in this open discussion for fear they will get ripped to shreds by Doug's fan club. I enjoy the discussions and the feedback on this site. It's a very informative site, and true, this subject is my only post. I only posted to see if this was normal behavior from Doug. I would think most would see this as pretty open and shut. I can guarantee how a judge would decide. I believe this post will save others the headache of what I'm going through. I would not recommend doing business with Doug Richardson at all. Once again, for the last time, I will update if and when Doug follows through.
  11. Well heck, I guess I should be honored to lose $424 to Doug! He seems to be some kind of saint or savior to certain people. If he's 82, blind, and can board a plane to Belize (don't forget about arranging the tickets, booking taxis, checking in and getting to the gate),- he's got people helping him. He had someone list his items on gunbroker before he took off. If he's so sickly, he should not be advertising items for sale and arranging business deals. When I asked him to refund me, he said there are no resources in Belize. We all know that's an untrue statement. If he's got a phone, he can refund me. He's a very wealthy man who has a lot of resources to get around like that, and live the lifestyle that he lives. The same people helping him could help him to refund the money that he cashed nearly 120 days ago. Let's not overthink this. It's a business transaction and he has not completed his end after 4 months. There seems to be so many excuses being made. Anyone who sent that kind of money for an item would be a little concerned after 4 months. Especially since he was calling me nearly daily up until he cashed my check. Now I don't hear a peep out of him. I asked him very politely - over the phone -to refund me and he would not. He refused. He's got no resources, nothing in Belize. He made it sound like Gilligan's Island. He just kept saying I will get the barrel and sight ring when he returns. I asked him when he would return to California, and he had no idea. Does he just purchase 1-way tickets? He's been doing this for a long time to people -not just since he hit 82. He's not senile. He's very sharp when I have spoken to him. During the past few days, I've had many people PM me about their poor experience with him.. Maybe one of Doug's good friends here who supports this behavior wants to send me a new in the wrap WWII barrel and sight ring (or $424) since it's not a big deal to them. They can always have Doug send them a replacement when he returns. It's easy to defend Doug when you have no skin in the game. But who here would throw over $400 away, honestly? Just write it off, and be a financial martyr to the great Doug. If anyone here purchased something off ebay for big money, and the seller never sent it, would you just forget about it? Even though the seller was a legend? I highly doubt it. I'm sure disputes would be filed within a month. Nobody would "move on". I've been very patient for 4 months. I will not move on and I will pursue this until I get refunded or my items sent. Unlike some here, money does not grow on trees for me. I bust my ass every day to earn my keep. He's a multi millionaire who took over $400 from a guy who lives paycheck to paycheck. That's a lot for me to lose, seriously. It stings. I don't understand why he can't do the right thing and just refund me. He's probably got that much in his wallet to use at the beach bar. I'm hoping he does the right thing here very soon.
  12. Hi TD, I have called Doug, but he had no idea of a return date, and he told me he has no resources to refund me. He just assured that I would get my barrel, he "ain't dead yet".. He assumed that I was in no hurry for it, I don't know how he came to that assumption. I could have purchased that barrel from gunbroker auctions, but I liked Doug, and I was hoping to do business with him, every little bit helps. He told me that he was only able to eat prunes. I felt bad for the guy, really. He told me about how he lost his wife, and the big fire. Like I say, I could have got these small parts from gunbroker, but I am a sucker for sad stories and wanted to give him some business. I was prepared to buy a Luger from him, but I'm thanking my lucky stars that I didn't send him another check for that! My intention is not to bash him, I am just asking other members about their recommendations or experience with Doug. I am sensing the more time that goes by, the less of a priority it will become for those parts to be mailed. I will definitely make good and update with an apology for doubting him if I ever get a refund or the parts sent! Thanks again everyone!
  13. Thanks for the updates, gang...I've been very patient for the last 3-4 months. I can wait a little longer. I think for anyone who doesn't know this man personally, it would seem absurd to have payment received and cashed-then he goes out of the country for a very very long time with no return date given. That's not very professional, but I feel for his loss. Like I say, my young sister died right in my arms last year. Its a horrible thing to go through. To have a fire wipe out everything, on top of his loss, I understand..But I made my purchase long after the fire and the loss of his wife. It doesn't make sense to me for a transaction to occur, then the other party skips town a week after the check is cashed without completing his end of the deal. He was also trying to convince me to purchase his '21 "completely original" Colt. Now I find out it was previously a dewat. I hope his situation gets better.
  14. i googled that address a thousand times already..lol..since that is the address that he used, and the address where payment was sent, that is the address I will give the police and the CA Attorney General for starts. I'm probably still going to give Doug a little time before I do that. I consulted with my attorney and I do have plenty of time to go this route. Anyway, like I say, I will update if Doug follows through with his deal.
  15. I sent the check to Doug Richardson 9705 Owensmouth Ave Ste 2 Chatsworth Ca 91311. I understand that is where he lives, as he does not keep any Thompson items at the ranch. I have a copy of the cashed check with his signature on the back, so that is his current address when he's not hanging out in Belize. I'm hoping he will make good on it if and when he returns. I guess I'm lucky that I didn't buy the Luger he was trying to push on me. He told me to send him over $1000 for that and he'd throw it in the same box as the other parts. So I could have been out a lot more $$
  16. I will post an update if Doug ever makes good. I would strongly advise anyone not to make purchases from Doug. If he was going through hard times, maybe he should not have offered to sell parts & cashed the check.. I recently had my 38 year old sister die in my arms. That's hard. We all can think of excuses, and hardships. I don't want to hear "I got no one to help me", but yet he's fit enough to pack his bags, go to the airport and hop on an Airbus to Belize. I know that he could send that money back, but he's bordering on sociopathic behavior and he has no concern or care. All I can say with Doug is learn from my mistakes of trusting the man.
  17. Bob, I spoke with you about this previously, I was just curious if any other members had similar dealings with Doug. I guess I would seriously think twice about sending Doug any kind of payment. Most likely anything purchased from Doug will never be received. Just excuses why and excuses why he can't refund. When I asked him to refund me, he told me he has no resources to do that. I guess the Western Union website isn't available in Belize. I just don't know why someone would cash a check and then skip town if they were honest. I'm not in the habit of lending money out interest free for months and months so someone can lay on an exotic beach sipping mai tais. He called me almost daily, until after he cashed my check...Now nothing since April! Anybody else have a recommendation before I take a different approach?
  18. Has anyone sent Doug money for small parts? I sent him over $400 in early April for a barrel and sight ring. He cashed my check, and scooted off to Belize without sending the parts out. It's going on 4 months now. Is this to be expected, or am I being impatient?
