  1. I was lucky enough to spend a weekend at the SAR West Show around 2008. Go to the Class 3 pavilion FIRST. My advice is, if you see something that you need or want, buy it while you have your hands on it, don't wait, it will be gone when you get back......Oh, and cash is king! ENJOY!
  2. Here are a few pics of the 1911 with the IRS serial number. I am fascinated with this gun. Although the numbers and property mark are scrubbed, I still love it! Another thing that has me interested in the history of this gun, is that when I google searched for "1911 IRS serial number", I came across a thread on another board, from 2009, started by a guy in CA, that is asking about MY gun that I bought last month in PA. https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=359262
  3. I recently bought a Colt 1911 with an IRS serial number. Is it worth it to use the FOIA to get any details? I am fascinated by this pistol.
  4. Grasshopper, what a GREAT rate of fire on the .22 Thompsons. If I didn't already have my Ruger 10/22 Norrell, American 180 and M16 .22 conversion, I would certainly would be looking for a .22 conversion for my 1928. Thanks for posting!
  5. Hey Gregg, Please tell me about the converted .22 drum in the pic.
  6. Maybe that's the only reason they invested.......I invest because the item is something "I just cant live without".... I enjoy it because I love it!
  7. No problem, I am just not familiar with this particular ammo.
  8. A friend handed me a couple of Thompson mags at a shoot this past week because I recently got my Thompson. This is one of the mags. Is there any special collector value or monetary value? Thanks in advance!
  9. I have an opportunity to buy a couple thousand rounds of this ammo at a decent price, considering all of the crazy prices the past couple of months. Does anyone have any experience with this particular ammunition?
  10. I did run 2 of my 3 drums. One was flawless and the other had one hiccup. I will do some more independent testing ASAP. I was at an indoor range when I tested. I will be at an outdoor shoot in a few weeks and will test all my drums, mags and ammo. I have a friend who might have a 100rd drum drum for sale....fingers crossed
  11. lmao.....was gonna use it as a tent stake
  12. Ok, got this 1928 WH back in June and this is what happened. Now, after a few posts here and some great diagnosis, it's ALIVE! A special thanks to Dan Block, who said in my last 2 posts about the gun not working, that it was a "tight chamber". A very special thanks to Reconbob who did the barrel replacement. I am very lucky to live only 25min from Bob at Philadelphia Ordnance. Bob was able to replace my out of spec WH barrel with a new one and properly pin the Cutts compensator. He took care of the replacement in a minimal amount of time and at a very very reasonable rate. Bob is a very knowledgeable individual and a real nice guy! Now, LOOK AT IT GO!!!!!!! Thanks to all who took the time to help me turn a $20,000 paperweight into a real working Thompson sub machinegun!
  13. What did he go to prison for? https://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/post-tribune/ct-ptb-kelerchian-gun-federal-sentence-st-0206-20180205-story.html
  14. picture of the rounds that didn't fire, showing the mark ReconBob was talking about. https://i.ibb.co/x1Rwnp1/20200707-112222.jpg
  15. Please tell us what we should be looking for at the lower speed.
