  1. It could be a problem with your gas-port being slightly mis aligned with your gas cylinder or the ammo . I would try a different type of ammo and see if the problem reoccurred. Some rifles are pickey about the ammo that they function with. Just a few things off the top of my head . Let us know what you find ? Mike
  2. I am looking for a wooden Grip for a Reese repro folding stock. Anyone have one that they replaced with a plastic grip that they want to sell ? I purchased one from Colleen, but she sent me the grip for the Nigerian and it is a bit different ,so I need to call on Tuesday and try to exchange it . I can be reached at:mikebaker1129@aol.com if anyone has one to sell or knows where one is .
  3. Mark if Fred doesn't have them give me a shout a have a few stashed around somewhere !
  4. I can only add that the blank firing attachment is fairly rare to come by ! I too have one, but they are something you do not see every day .
  5. John Ryan email me your address I have something that I want to send you in the mail ! Mike
  6. Bill send me a email at: mikebaker1129@aol.com .I can help with a used one . Mike
  7. Yes, I noticed it ,but to me the weld looks like it runs right through the middle of the bolt stop area . I can't believe it has bids allready .
  8. Walt shoot me a email at :mikebaker1129@aol.com and I will send the drawings . Mike
  9. I want to check with a machine shop and see what they would cost to build . They may cost more to make than they are worth ! Tim Shufflin will be making some for use on his M14 mag fed mini G conversions, but I do not know if he will be offering any forsale loose. I am pretty sure he will be using all for his conversions. Check out his forum :battletested.com look under the miniG section he has pretty cool pics . Hope this helps. By the way the parts I picked up were for the BM59 mag conversion,I am still looking for the M14 spring guide, the block,I beleive is the same.
  10. JR I learned something today . I had no idea that is what the SIAU on the barrel stood for ! Thanks for sharing . I beleive he fas one of the Goldenstate or Federal Ordnance conversions that use M14 mags, that does not ose the dovetail slots inside the receiver and 8mm pin . His uses a simplified block which has a feed ramp /bullet guide and is retained by the follower arm pin used on a M1 Garand. The spring guide look like a sewing needle and does not look like the typical catch found on a BM59. I have drawings of the parts if you would like I could email them, but I have no idea how to load pics on the forum. Walt sounds like a cool project, I will be attempting a similar project soon . Sounds like your conversion also used one of the cut down 1903 barrels sleeved to a M1 barrel stub with a insert to convert from 3006 to 7.62 nato that was silver soldered about 1/4 of the way down ? Did your conversion use a Garand gas cylinder ?
  11. No, the pin did not have to be welded, but being welded it will never walk out ! I agree on the brake, without it ,it just wouldn't be right !
  12. Nice write up ! Is the mag catch pin welded in the receiver ? The"E" type muzzle breaks do not seem to turn up very often , but a Smith Garand break works well as a substitute . By the way I also have one "E" conversion built by James at CMP Armory. Your barrel looks just like mine.
  13. Reese surplus also sells the E barrels ,I believe at $275 if you were looking for a alternative to Sarco. I believe Sarco sells loose barrels for $125ea.
  14. That would depend on whether or not you were planning on using a BM59 gas cylinder or a M1 Garand gas cylinder ? It could be done with a BM59 barrel and BM59 gas cylinder with a BM59 op rod and still retain the M1 internals . Walt Kuleck from Fulton Armory has one like this and Clint McKee had a very difficult time getting it running. You might try emailing Walt about details of his build. Have you given any thought to a "Mini G" built by Tim Shufflin ?Sounds like the "Mini G" is right in line with what you are looking for . Hope this helps .
  15. I sent you a email about a spare standard buttplate that I have . Mike
  16. Which type are you looking for the flip up type or the regular ? I will take a look at my spare parts and see what I have laying around .
  17. Art what is simichrome ? I located 1 grip a few years back but it had no grip cap, I searched for the grip cap for several years to no avail until Andy hit the scene. I stocked up on a few of the more difficult items to locate. I also picked up the parts lot from Blackgold that had lots of odds and ends that you do not see everyday.
  18. Who knows where to find the front end parts for a Golden State ,National Ordnance, Santa Fe or whatever that used the simplified filler piece and spring guide ? Someone was going to have some of these machined at one time. I am looking real hard at building something on a Garand receiver either a M14 mag conversion or another BM59 type that uses the simplified version without the dove tail . Any leads would be appreciated . Thanks in advance !
  19. Yes , I did note the X in the serial #, but other than that ,I did not see anything special about the rifle that would lead me to believe it was a RARE 1 of 200 rifle . I realize that I am a novice to these rifles and I am eager to learn from the more knowledgeable members here ,but I was wondering what I was missing on this one . It appears as if I was not missing anything at all .
  20. Anyone see the 1 of 200 BM59 on gunbroker ? I do not see anything special about this rifle . Am I missing something ?
  21. Thanks for the dimensions Art ! Your grip was it made from Walnut or Beech/Oak ? I have seen both on both the folders and the Nigerians , I was just trying to see if they used the Walnut first and then went to Oak or beech. Interesting that Boyds made the grips. I did not know that ....

  23. Did you use tubing ? Just the length will do ,if it is not too much trouble . MIKE
