  1. Ken, You should have gotten back to me about the gun I know of. Matching upper and lower, US property marked Savage M1A1 in very good condition. $18k OBO.
  2. My MP5 sale fell through and it looks like my M1A1 purchase may not work out afterall. If anyone has a non WH gun pref a 1928 that they would like to trade for this or if you are interested in the gun just to buy let me know. http://www.subguns.com/classifieds/index.c...query=retrieval
  3. I have been in the market for 4 months looking for a US property marked WWII M1A1 or 28. In the last 4 months the cheapest I have seen which is currently on the boards for $16.5k and is poorly refinished to a high which is still currently on the boards for a rewat in good shape for $23k. I have found a US property marked arsenal refinished M1a1 Bridgeport with US property and acceptance stamps fro $16.7k. My Sot has sent the paperwork and I am sending the check today! Hopefully within a few months you will see pics of me blasting away. By the way I finally got my wife to insist on the Thompson after watching "Saving Private Ryan" the other night. She whacked me at the mere thought of buying a WH gun and actually forked over an extra $1400 to help seal the deal on this gun http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif .
  4. I live 20 mins from Ft. Desoto where that was found. I also went Grouper fishing yesterday right offshore by there and saw something strange in the water. I was pulling my cast net in from catching bait and a big weird grayish looking thing followed it up. My wife saw it too, I am not saying it was a mermaid but? I just thought it was a big hammerhead or something. Dean

  6. I found it from a dealer and got the price down to a reasonable $16,700. Both the wood and metal are in very good condition and it is US property marked as well. The only bad thing is no matching numbers http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif . Here are some pics, what do you guys think? http://s82.photobucket.com/albums/j245/gmitz/

  8. I have some emailed pics to me on a 1928 Thompson for sale. I can't host them so could I mail them to someone to look at and give me an opinion on this gun? Thanks
  9. I saw a Bridgeport amnesty registered 1928 with a horizontal front grip and smooth barrel with no comp. Could this be correct for any 1928? Here is link... http://www.impactguns.com/store/MGT-S-499168.html
  10. Does having the US markings add significantly to the value of a WWII M1A1 Thompson? Also how to tell if a gun I am ready to buy has been refinished and whether the wood is original? Thanks Dean

  12. First let me say I am not new to Machineguns just Thompsons. I have/had over 25 different transferables in the last 6 or 7 years. A range nearby is not a problem. The money is coming from a direct sale of my MP5 so funds are not an issue. I study and watch what prices of the specific mg that I am looking at for 6 months prior to the purchase. So besides remembering the opportunity to pick up 2 NIB WH cons serial number guns 4 years agofor $10k I have a hand on the current market. I just want to make sure that this is a quality start to my Thompson collecting. Thanks Dean
  13. All right I have the final data on the weapon. Savage M1A1 95% Original wood and finish US property marked Military acceptance stamps Matching upper/lower's Guys I see dealers asking $24k for guns that are worse than this... Is $18.5k a fair to good deal? Thanks
  14. QUOTE (PhilOhio @ Jul 16 2006, 09:45 AM) Maybe you could tell us what kind of Thompson? Sorry, It is a Savage M1A1 in 95% condition with US property markings and actually has matching upper/lowers. Dean
