  1. macbeth You need to run your design by the ATF's Tech Branch. They will take forever and probably tell you no. They don't care so much what you're making, they care about how easily it can be converted to a MG and what stages it goes through on its way to being made. They have banned BB guns built on AK receivers/actions because they could be made into MGs with a lot of effort. Even if you weld on a BFA, they would say no because a hacksaw will turn it back into a MG. Making the tube itself is making a MG in their eyes. If any part of the manufacturing process makes something they consider a MG - even temporarily, you're screwed. You can argue all you want about how senseless and arbitrary these regulations are - and I would likely agree. However, that and $1 will buy you a cup of cofee in the federal courthouse. My advice, give it up. P.S. Don't use the "New Topic" button to post replies. It just clutters the board
  2. It's my understanding that Andrewski has built both "Stenlings" and Sterlings. I've heard both are superb - the man is a perfectionist! His recent Sterlings are most likely built on DLO tubes and will have the .25 wide cocking slot. DLO also registered Sten tubes, many of which have become Stenlings. This gets people confused (or at least confused me). If you bought a Andrewski/DLO Sterling from Recon Ordinance, ASI or FPC recently, it is likely an accurate Sterling Mk 4 L2A3 clone and will be built with Sterling manufactured parts (i.e. not Fazakerley). As I understand it, the Sten and Sterling tubes have the same diameter, but the cocking slots are different as is the tube length. The ATF has set strict limits on receiver mods made to either type. Changing the cocking slot is one of them.

I figure I'm 4 to 5 months out. Time passes so I accessorize. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Got my IMA kit yesterday. Wish I could say I was impressed. I ordered the kit WITH included mag and an extra mag for an additional $25. What I received was missing a mag, missing the ejector, missing the mag catch assy, missing the butt cap and the barrel screws. Other than that, it was complete http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif I've emailed them, but haven't heard back yet. The trigger assy cleaned up nice. Definitely factory Sterling and not Fazakerly. You can tell from the Axis pins and guide rod. All are stainless! The rest is still soaking in the degreaser (Simply Green) solution until all the crinkle paint comes off. I'm very impressed with the workmanship. These guns are worth the $$! Finished reading "The Guns of Dagenham". Fantastic reference and THE Sterling Bible! I love my RR Uzi and all the caliber kits & suppressor options, but the Sterling will probably be my favorite in short order. Happy 4th to everyone!
