John Ryan
As Mike Baker reported new US made gas cylinders are available from Standard Parts https://www.standardpartsllc.com/productcar...p;idcategory=26 I did get one of these gas cyls as my BM62 gas cyl is not tight at all ( I have peened the splines a little but without much improvement). I attempted to test fit it and it is a very tight fit. So tight that is did not feel comfortable proceeding. I tapped with rubber mallet and a wood block and the resistance was so great that I got a little gunshy to go furthur. I have a replacement Beretta made BM59 cyl and that goes on very easily. I'm wondering how hard I can go to tap this on. I don't want to messup the barrel. I'm worried if I get this on the splines will be so wide the factory cyls will never fit again. Thoughts? Here are some shots of the Standard Parts gas cyl compared to a BM62 part. The fit and finish is very nice. timshufflin
I have had numerous gas cylinders of Greg's (standard parts) in my shop for BM and Mini-G builds. I have not yet had one that didn't go on perfectly tight. Perfect means I use a cut off barrel stud, screw it into the gas cylinder, tap it on. I like it tight.
