Depends on how you want it to look. Some just chop the comp, bore it out, and slide it back and pin or solder it on the barrel.

Of course, this has the barrel running through the comp, but that's not all bad, as lead bullets will no longer foul the comp.

The more involved methods sleeve and thread the barrel or comp, and give a more original look. Getting the slight flare on the end of the barrel, where the comp threads normally start, -is the tricky part.

The other method is to buy a 14-1/4 inch barrel from Green Mountain Barrels. These are made specifically to install with a permanently attached comp per ATF rules, creating the 16 inch barrel. You need someone who knows what they're doing, no matter which method. Selling the no longer needed long barrel would reduce your finished cost.
