timkel
Nice looking piece. Do these normally sell for over $4K? http://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/ithaca-auto-burglar-model-b-double-barrel-smoot-3470-c-7dd414eabb
bmarvin
Well over $4,000. I'd bet that pushes $8,000.
timkel
Stopped at a gun show today. A dealer had an Ithaca Auto burglar for sale, very nice condition, price was $7000.The dealer told me these were made in the 1920's and only 2000 were made. KR09
About 2,500 of the original model referred to as the "A" model which took 2 1/2" shells were made beginning in 1922 followed by 1,500 of the "B" models which took the now standard 2 3/4" shells. The $200 transfer fee enacted with the 1934 National Fire Arms Act wiped out sales of this model. It was later reclassified as an ODD with only the $5 transfer fee. It is certainly a very unique and a very cool gun to have.
