fred
What do you experts think of this item?: http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem....p?Item=16115789 Other than missing a latch, the case is quite nice and appears to beoriginal, at least from what I can see. Alll details match those in Tracie Hill's book and it looks too old to be a repro. If it were a repro, I figured that no one would leave their drum stored in it and leave marks. I was surprised that no one else found it and bid on it since these cases seem to go high on evilBay. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif
Ron A
Looks like you got a good deal. The case is an exact copy of the cases Fox makes. Yours shows age. At that price you cant go wrong. Any label on case?
fred
No label anywhere. All hardware does look old. Heck, the rod has some value since it is the longer one (I think)!
JimFromFL
Looks like you got a great deal. I have yet to see one sell on E-Bay for less than a grand.
rsilvers
Very sweet. Who makes the best replica case again? And is the current best replica case as good as any replica case from the past?
full auto 45
Greg Fox makes the best cases I've seen in a long time. He will be at Knob Creek in a couple weeks. He makes the FBI/Police style case and he also make the Indiana style flat case that is a rarity. His work from what I've seen and held is first class. As good if not better then the originals. Greg is on this board but off hand I cannot remember his email. If I can find it I'll post it. Or he may see this post and respond, if he's not busy getting ready to go north to Kentucky. nobra81
That's a great price on a great looking original thompson case. Find you another matching latch and get someone probably at a shoe shop to install it for you. Make sure he knows what he's doing. I think you can still find this type on latch. I found one at an old music store. They went on musical instruments cases. The long cleaning rod is hard to find. You never see them for sale. Probably worth $200 by itself. Sometimes the labels are hard to find. Look around the edge of the rear top and bottom. You made a great buy i have to cases and paid more than that good luck steve
