This has me stumped….

Recommended Posts

Just about through my box of mount parts and I have been lucky enough to identify almost everything using the internet and one success on this forum, and hopefully someone will know what this is? I've exhausted my search on the internet so hopefully I can be successful again on this forum. The item is 3.25inches x 4.25 inches and about 3.75 inches tall. It has a bronze bushing as shown in the photos. I shall again be very appreciative to anyone who can identify it.post-260197-0-04493200-1446505251_thumb.jpgpost-260197-0-26246200-1446505274_thumb.jpgpost-260197-0-54019300-1446505304_thumb.jpg

Thompson comp.jpgThis may be an early 1930's blank compensator that was used to fire blanks from a Thompson in Hollywood movies in the 30's. It looks like they used a setscrew to lock it onto the barrel. Sorry, did not pay attention more closely to the size, much too big to be this.

Ok, NOSP stands for Naval Ordnance Special Projects, 7-68 is the month 7 (July) and year 68 (1968). The longer number is a part or drawing number.

NOSF is Naval Ordnance Station Forest Park, Illinois which did research from 1945 - 1970.
