  1. How about the West Hurley that sold for $32.5K, that's over 40K with buyers premium, amazing. https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/1045/2574/autoordnance-1928-a-range-thompson-class-iiinfa-cr-mg
  2. Ahh, the good ol day’s, when we still had some freedoms. We desperately need to get back to those days. Too bad 3/4ths of the world, (including this country), has embraced communism instead.
  3. Your question would be bettered answered by going to the main menu on this site and asking under "The Class III" forum. You will also have to explain in greater detail about the gun in question and what you had in mind. It appears by your question that you will have to educate yourself about the legality of Class III weapons as to what is legal and what is not. We have a lot of very knowledgeable members here who would be happy in assisting you with your questions.
  4. Better yet, I'll just post photos here and you can download and print them. The one with the photo of the fully equipped box is the most widely seen contents holder that is found pictured in the frames on these lids. The second is an actual parts list and breakdown and it's actually more interesting than just the photograph of the contents. to me, either one would be a nice addition the box. If you download these to print I believe the actual size of the Placard holder to be approx. 6.5 x 5 inches. So the list that slides inside the holder would be slightly smaller, about 6x4.5 inches. In exchange for posting these I would really appreciate it if anyone who finds a placard holder this size to please let me know where it was purchased. Since I have been unable to find one I may end up just fabricating one instead. I never thought to ask Mr. Lake if he could supply a placard holder for his boxes but since he didn't include one when I received mine 5 years ago I suspect he doesn't have them. Mike
  5. I have a copy of the list and with some photoshop efforts I can make a copy. What has been vexing me is the metal frame that the document slides into. I've searched everywhere to find a frame like that and I've come up empty. Here is my original post that started all the hoopla on these boxes. I was glad to get you all in on this unique reproduction. https://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?/topic/25420-mp3840-transport-box/#comment-227762
  6. This guy is probably looking to make a buck and not interested in giving it away if it's full-auto and not registered. Keep your eyes peeled on gunbroker to see if he cuts it up and sells it as pieces/parts.
  7. It's total BS. I've seen several of these so called restorations from rusty relics. For one thing most of the rust is phony. Don't know why this guy makes these videos, there must be money involved from viewers or something.
  8. A number of days ago I asked the seller all the questions that we were asking, never got a reply back. Yeah, this seller doesn't have a clue.
  9. https://www.tumblr.com/vomitdodger/746642924060737536?source=share Wouldn't it be great to walk into a hardware store today and do this....
  10. Yes, the buyer’s premium plus the state tax, (and mine is 10%), is outrageous. So be aware when you bid. I bought an item not too long ago and thought I got a reasonable deal till I added up all the fees and shipping, and it became obvious that it wasn’t that great a deal after all. The only people that really make it big time is the auction house.
  11. Your “classic gangster stock” would be the one gijive just referenced. The ‘21 stock without the reinforcement bolt.
  12. Frank, that certainly must have been an eye opening trip. Wow. It certainly helps to have connections. Great photos of Bapty's, I'm sure not very many people have had the privilege of viewing their inventory.
  13. Doesn't list it as a C&R so maybe it's not just imported by LaFrance but remanufactured by LaFrance in the early 80's and they applied a new serial number, Wonder if Lafrance is listed as the Mfg on the paperwork or Mauser?
  14. Prices rose on this gun because this fella helped clean up the zombie mess back then. Something that we need to do even more now.
  15. Frank, great shot of Babty's Grease guns and Thompsons. What were the circumstances that they allowed you to view there inventory, please tell us more about your visit? For those who don't know Babty's is the British version of what the U.S. Stembridge gun rentals used to be for movies. Lots of history there with all the James Bond film guns and the guns used in the Indiana Jones films.
  16. Well, this is a Mauser produced gun when the code was changed from "byf" to "svw" when France took over production of the P38 after the war's end. A large number of these guns were imported thereby depressing the values of these pistols. The French produced these pistols from May 10th 1945 till May 2, 1946 and you will find 1946 serial numbered guns out there. There should be a a star proof mark on the right hand side of the gun. At any rate it's a nice example of a late -post war gun. I would be curious to know what your local pawn shop was asking for this as i have not followed the pricing of P.38's for almost 20 yrs now.
  17. That's us now Ron. Respect your elders, they've been there and done that. learn from them and you will be the wiser for it.
  18. You know the great pyramids? I’m the guy that came up with that triangle idea.
  19. Great performance by Anthony Zerbe as the head ghoul. Lots of good stuff in the film and a pretty good musical score. In Chuck using the S&W 76 in this film was one of the reasons that I had to have one in my mg collection.
  20. Well Artie you may be right. How cool would it have been for Chuck to carry a Thompson, (with a drum) instead of a S&W 76 to waste the zombies in "Omega Man". Here's a couple of photos that Chuck signed for me from the film back in the day. The story is is a great one that has probably never reached it's full potential in it's 3 film adaptations. The 1st with my friend Vincent Price was a low budget affair shot in Europe that is perhaps more truer to the novel. The last with Will Smith is complete garbage and unwatchable. Chuck's version is very entertaining. Read the original story by the great Richard Matheson. Here's a couple of the books he signed for me years ago, one is the original paperback novel. I asked him where he got the idea for the story and what he revealed to me was most surprising as the movies made took somewhat of a different approach.
  21. Here's another picture. Like SRanger mentioned, it would be very easy to lose rounds or get crud in the bottom mag. Just carry a mag pouch, reaching for a one out of the pouch is worth the extra 2 seconds. Notice the blank adaptor at the end of the barrel, we discussed that some years ago on another thread here.
  22. After having watched this memorable film many, many times since it first came out in the 60's I always thought it was pretty cool to have 2 magazines taped together like shown here. But at that, I just don't believe it would have been all that practical to have an excessively long protruding mag as it would seem to be ripe for banging into something and either dislodging it or deforming it rendering some kind of damage to the mag or the mag well. I certainly never saw an actual WW II photograph like this on an M3. But I if memory serves there does exist a photograph of this being done with a Thompson. Not sure it was necessary to tape the 2 so far down on the mag, making it really, really long.
  23. Dan, you are right on the money, this is exactly the problem. I know, My 1st WH had the same problem. I fixed it myself and it became a flawless shooter. you can add a little dab of JB weld to the top of your catch and this will do the trick.
