RangerX
Wondering if there is anything that can be done to improve the trigger of my Kahr Thompson. Probably the longest trigger pull I've ever encountered, and not the nicest reset either. Any thoughts, links, etc. would be appreciated.
Paladin601
Have not used this guy, but he was recommended in an earlier thread: http://triggerwork.net/thompson.html On an previous trigger job I did on a garand, I found that swap parts and removing machine marks the best. You might also contact "Reconbob" at Philly ordanance, and get advice from him.
Merry Ploughboy
This guy does trigger work on a number of firearms, including Thompsons: http://triggerwork.net/ I have no personal experience with his services. ETA: Beat by five minutes while I was looking up the link. Edited December 6, 2015 by Merry Ploughboy
Paladin601
Must not forget Dan Block Deerslayer on this Forum. Sorry Dan
deerslayer
I've experimented with lighter springs on the sear and trigger. It was a little better but trying to shorten the travel of the trigger is not a good idea. It's a poor striker type design with lots of play between the parts. Shorten the firing pin engagement just a little too much and you will get a gun that will fire with the safety on and or double sometimes.
RangerX
Thanks for the feedback all. I've found a few places mention shortening springs, polishing surfaces. The length of the trigger pull wouldn't be such a big deal if the reset wasn't so horrendous. I've already cleaned up surfaces, so it's nice and smooth, just need to decide if I want to trim some spring coils (hadn't thought of that). Paladin601
There was a TV show, don't remember the name, but the "Gunsmoke Gun Shop" in Colorado did it. They did a trigger job on a semi auto Thompson and had all kinds of problems. One was a "runaway, full auto"
eddielee
Here's a link to that episode of American Guns - where they tweaked the trigger on a semi Thompson & it went FA on 'em. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xshl9q_american-guns-season-2episode-7-tommy-gun-20-pound-50-cal_tv

shadycon
Remember; most tv shows are just that! They are written by idiots for idiots. Most of the writers no nothing about the subject they are writing about.

Gio
What reality show doesn't stink. They are catering to people that want to be entertained not to people that want to learn something. Frank
lamellarllc
I thought the show was very tacky esp. when he would drop silver bars on the table and walk away with machineguns, funny they were NOT a class III dealer!
lamellarllc
Side not I did enjoy how the new titanium reciever had the exact same roll marks as the factory gun does.... looks like they stripped an aluminum receiver.
