blfuller
I am contemplating a BM59E build. So if I got a SARCO BM59E kit, I was wondering if I should get it with a barrel or sans barrel. What I am wondering if I used a 7.62 NATO Garand barrel will everything be able to be used or not. I have read about the Italian barrels are 1/2" shorter, so I was wondering if the op-rod is shorter as well. I do intend on sending it to Tim for the receiver modification and assembly. If you were going to do it what would be the best way? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
John Ryan
For and E model BM59...Theoretically, if just a receiver is converted for the build you could use a Standard Garand barrel, stock ( modded for magazine clearance) and handguards. E model gas cyl is the same too. The E model buttstock and rear handguard are shorter and not interchangeable with std Garand. In short, if you get the kit get the barrel. They are mostly USGI barrels shortened at the breech. Good luck. They are tons of fun. JR
