huntgrouse
what is the deal with the full auto conversion kits being offered. I am an 07 and have very limited knowledge of the M1A1 et al. can anyone shed any light on the current offerings out there. I see lowers and parts being sold as conversion kits. as a manufacturer, no big deal. Just dont know the ins and outs of what kits are good, what are junk
deerslayer
Im note sure specifically what you are referring to, but perhaps you are referencing things that allow full auto function from a semi auto receiver? The thompson design is fairly easy to modify. A bolt or firing pin can be made that allows full auto function from a semi auto gun, with a modified semi lower. Broadhead armory made a few transferable ones. Also, a few semi recievers were registered as machine guns (again with modified internal parts). Any semi conversions can be quite functional, but they run fast and hard as the smaller bolt cavity means less weight for the bolt and in most cases reduced travel rearward. Post sample versions of these can of course be made by 07/sots.
Troy0331
There is a guy on gunbroker selling a semi to full auto conversion kit I heard they are not bad.
Outsider
I have seen those on gunbroker and thought that they were a felony looking for a place to happen for anybody who isn't a 07/SOT.
Troy0331
Your right if your not a SOT it’s a bad day for you but if you are it’s a cheap and safer option.
Countryboy77
A lot of those so called 'conversion' parts on gunjoker are just m1 or thompsin 1928 parts that would still have to be modified to fit a 1927.
StrangeRanger
Do you really want to go down the Post-sample rabbit hole? If you want a Thompson get a real GI one. They aren't cheap but nothing in the Class III world is. The best use for a WH semi is to put a 10.5" barrel on it and register it as an SBR
