Waltz41
Hey guys, does anyone make a replica or dummy BAR? is there even such a thing? i'm a ww2 reenactor, my grandfather carried a BAR in WW2, so i'm trying to do some living history stuff as a BAR man in his honor. I know there is no blank firing BAR, but what are the routes i can go? and how much are we talking money wise? any help is appreciated! brian
Darth_Kitten
Brian, You can get an oow semi BAR which run about 2800 when they are available, or you can build a dummy from a parts kit. Parts kits are ~600 or so, and dummy receivers are ~300-~400 if you want to build a dummy. Hope that helps. Mark
Waltz41
Are the dummy receivers all metal? no working parts right? i guess it doesn't matter much for a BAR, than for something like the thompson, where it's alot more visible and useable. and also, any ideas where to get the parts kits? just have to look around or any place usually ahve them for sale? brian
Darth_Kitten
Brian, The receivers are either aluminum, or steel. No moving parts really. Try Sarco for a parts kit. I bought one a couple of months ago, but it was pretty beat. I may be willing to sell my dummy, but I was thinking about making a semi. I'll let you know.
