brian
anybody here have an A/O-kahr 1911? i've heard that the pre-kahr, A/O .45's were lacking quality control. big suprise there http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif . yet surprisingly enough kahr has a name(and decent one at that) in the pistol realms. there's something about the 45's with the thompson logo on them that trips my trigger. however the angled seg's on the slide kinda cancel that itch, still i find myself thinking about them. brian
yeah, i know the older versions are poor, but what about the kahr variants?
robbo
I bought a new Auto-Ordnance .45 back about 1990 and had to send it back twice for repair cause the slide stop would back out. They replaced several parts and put on new grips(I didnt know the grips had an indirect relationship with the slide.) It still does the same thing occasionally. It makes for a great concealed throwing weapon. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Dont know about the new ones though, sorry. JimFromFL
Aren't they associated with the Company that makes problematic Thompsons? Oh, and that company who sells those wonderful drums http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif (and I purchased one http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ) Don't you see a pattern here. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif
Scoobie1
I bought a pre-Kahr AO 1911 3 years ago at a gun show for $200, spent 20 minutes of my time on it with a dremel smoothing out the feed ramp, and its worked perfect since then. Shoots much better than my buddy's Springfield. However, after 5 years of having a good 1927, it started giving me problems at the range this past weekend. Bolt locks back after every single round fired. I'm gonna take her apart in an hour or so and see what's up.
hpcc19
The Kahr 1911's are fine pistols for the money. They go bang on a regular basis, mostly where you want them to, and they are pure GI, simple without gizmos and cheap enough that you don't get too fussy with them. Too bad the 1927 doesn't meet the same criteria.
hpcc19
Geez, I dint realize until I saw my post that I'm a sponser....musta bin feeling guilty one day. Guess I'll stop feeling guilty for being a lookie-loo leech. This board has allowed me to own a GREAT 1927 refurb redo makeover semi. guy1074
I bought one of their no-frills 1911's about a year ago - I love it. I've never had any problems with it. Of the cheaper ones available (Springfield, Rock Island, A/O), I too liked the thompson logo and that A/O seemed a little rarer.
adlake
I bought a Kahr 1911A-1 and I fired it after a few times. In fact I was near Al Capones old joint near Hayward Wi, and the pin plunger and pins/springs went south. and the rear sights fell off. Call Kahr and they sent parts after I order some and I did the work in it. I had to port and polish it but it works nice. ..........Not like the 1927A-1 I got-Adlake
John Jr
I think we should rename this forum the "Thompson SMG Message Board (except for when you just feel like posting something NOT THOMPSON RELATED)" Its getting absurd in here with this trash. IF ITS OFF TOPIC POST IT IN THE OFF TOPIC FORUM PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif

TSMGguy
At least the common thread here is still the .45 cartridge! They aren't Kahr's, but I have to recommend the recent Colt WWI M1911 and WWII M1911 pistol replicas, should you still be able to find them. Fabulous fit, finish, and duplicated original markings. Also, U.S Firearms Company of Hartford, CT, is coming out with M1910 and early M1911 replicas as well; check their website for photos. I purchased one of their O.W. Ainsworth M1873 replicas recently and they are beautifully made, with all of the little touches present, including markings and inspector stamps. Indexing and function are perfect, as well.Check the new products in the right hand column at http://www.usfirearms.com
