NAC Suffix 1928 For Sale on Subguns

Recommended Posts

jbntex,

I saw this Thompson at a 2015 auction house in Cincinnati, Ohio. I assume you purchased it there. If not, send me a PM and I will send you the pictures I took. I would encourage you to file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to obtain the filing history on this Thompson gun. I can supply you a go-by form for the FOIA request if you will send me a PM. This is usually a free service. File it and wait. It is not unusual for some interesting pieces of information to be included with the response. Thank you for sharing!

rpbcps,

I agree with your analysis. The serial number range and Woolwich markings indicate an original British MoS Cash and Carry Thompson purchased prior to the Lend Lease Act. Given the above information on the Form 4 it appears Numrich Arms Corporation was the importer or acquired it from an importer. A FOIA packet will definitely tell when it was born on the NFA Registry.

All good stuff!!!

If you do not mind.

What is listed in box 4a on your form 4.

Sometimes that helps, but a FOIA request will settle the initial registration issue.

We do them on all of our C&R NFA stuff.

Box 4A:

Name and Address of Maker, Manufacturer, and/or Importer of Firearm:

Numrich Arm. Corporation

As a newbie buyer wanting to purchase based on collecting which one would be the best for investment

A type like this with nac 1928

A west Hurley gun 1928

Or a refurbished WW ll 1928a1

Just looking and trying to learn, very new to the Thompson and really won't to stay in mid to upper 20's max so the crown jewel of a colt is out for me.

Welcome any opinions from others with better knowledge than I

Thanks

"New guy" here too.

I wanted and could afford a Colt Thompson and had a couple of great deals pass under my nose at 40K +. Always missed for one matter or another.

What I "settled on" are a couple of Arsenal refurbished ( possibly new factory ?) Bridgeport's in very nice condition for Hurley prices.

There is something to be said about a bulletproof idiotproof gun that you can actually fire as opposed to being the next owner of a museum piece.
