DougStump
Is a 30-06 mainspring interchangeable with the 303? I know the casing is different, but what about the internals? I've got a complete 30-06 assembly and wondering what I can use on my 303 Lewis.
johnsonlmg41
At a cursory glance the only difference seems to be the external housing. The pin and internals seem to be the same. IIRC the spring tension for the two calibers may be different in the manuals, but it's been a long time since I've looked. HTH
Chief762
I've read nothing in the 'Belgian Rattlesnake' that would indicate the clock springs are different between 30-06 and .303.Chief762
maxfaxdude
I purchased 3 NOS Lewis gun clocksprings from the late Don Bell at the SAR show several years back. He stated that the 303 and 30-06 springs are interchangeable. And an NFA colleague of mine who owns Lewis guns in both calibers confirmed this. 1gewehr
The housings are different, but the springs are the same.
