Gold1927a1
I've wanted a T1B-14 for years and cannot seem to find one. While browsing on line I found this for a decent price. I realize it is controversial, but it is growing on me. Edited March 4, 2021 by Gold1927a1

Burgernut
1st time poster, that thing is neat. It's a little ironic that it's the same gun I just started wanting about 2 weeks ago, and just discovered this forum a few days ago. I'm hoping to be able to get one in blue finish, whenever, hopefully, wholesalers, dealers, prices? get back to normal.
Oldtrooper
Is it normal to have wobble with the drum mag?Depends upon the drum ... I have an old AO drum that fits tight as a .... well ... A drum. I have an import drum that wobbles ... Both feed fine.
Gold1927a1
Lol, there's not going to be a normal, just ever changing goal posts. Anyway I plan on getting one with the detachable stock and then have a smith cut and pin to 16 OAL or SBR. From what I've seen on a couple of charts, any length over 10.5" with standard 230gr seems to subtract velocity.
Gold1927a1
Whenever I get around to it I'll stake the extractor. Not sure what they test fire these with but very dirty.
Burgernut
Gold, I fear you may be right. I've pondered the sbr thing myself. I'm not adversed to the cut back and reinstall comp business with a standard model or barrel replacement with a Green Mountain 14", but an AO with the 14" would be so much easier. I think the sbr idea is going to be out of the question for me. If prices go up much, all of it will be out of the question for me!
Gold1927a1
Well I took her out today and she ran the stick mag and the drum flawlessly. It was a blast and with the stick mags this thing shoulder bumps pretty easy! Not so much with the drum, too much weight sadly. The winding recommendation seems to be bs. Unless I wind until it stops the spring will run out of steam before the mag is empty. Got some 30 round stick mags coming in the mail. Gold1927a1
Found a decent deal for a blued 1927a1 with free violin case so couldn't help myself. Now I have a safe queen and a shooter!
68coupe
When winding the drum, there is a smaller, quieter "click" followed by a resounding CLICK as the rotor spring engages. Only count the big clicks. HTH, Karl
Jts1469
Beautiful rifle!! I also wanted one for many yearS and picked up an early low 200 serial number one. Doesnt run well ftf and a few slam fires so Im trying to work on finding parts which aint easy. Also considering find a smith in N.J. That knows them. Sometimes it better to accept that you dont know what you dont know. Good Luck with yours!!
Gold1927a1
Can anyone recommend an oil for the wood? I'm thinking about using some mineral oil but want feedback as to what would be best/appropriate for a Thompson. For such a flashy gun the walnut seems pretty lackluster. 68coupe
Raw linseed oil is the magic potion. Do NOT use boiled linseed oil, as it has additives that don't dry completely. Additionally, it does not self-dissolve, creating a sticky mess with additional coatings. HTH, Karl
