Grabenkater
I am considering purchasing a OOW BAR. It's a big investment for me and I am planning on thinning some from my herd to afford it. Any suggestions for new owners? I will be gathering all of the associated equipment to go with it ie belt, magazines, loader etc.
RoscoeTurner
Accessories are relatively easy to come by, prices are not all that high either.
emmagee1917
Congrats .Excellent choice . Very expensive , but note two things . 1) They don't have a problem selling every one they make . Usually there is a waiting list . 2) You hardly ever see one up for sale used . People that buy them tend to keep them . When they do go up for sale , it's usually at close to new prices . Most of the guns are Korean War look production . If you want it from another period , you'll have to buy the correct parts . This thing has a ton of belts , boxes , tools , etc. for you to spend money on .It will be one of the most accurate guns you'll own . StooperZero
If they're in stock and you order early enough , they ship it the same day. They try to be pretty up to date on their website. My biggest peeves, Get rid of that green sling and blue the bolt. I like mine, sure as hell beats lugging my Madsen to the range.
Thumper69035
When I went to preorder mine,I called the gal who took the orders..I was transferred to the gal at shipping by mistake. She was the one who sent BARs out. She told me that when you send your paperwork in send ALL the money with it, (it wasn't required at that time). Because when they do call the people who preordered,a few don't have all the money. So Ohio Ord. Will just go to there list of prepaid orders and ship from that.I had my BAR 14 days after sending them my check. Under my shipping label was a label to another guy who lived in Kansas city Kansas. Embalmer
Good luck with your purchase, you won't be disappointed. Mirroring above, get rid of Web sling, and get a proper leather 3 hook sling, and blue the silver bolt (I have a whole thread here on stuff I did to mine to be wwii configuration) And careful on accessories, gets addictive http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff186/maninblue1861/1918%20Browning%20automatic%20rifle/_DSC1320_zpse41ucr5j.jpg
Grabenkater
I bit the bullet and picked up an OOW 1918A3 yesterday. It looks like it was made last week and it has a two digit serial number. So far, it appears most of the parts are NOS GI. After I recoup from the nuclear strike on my play fund, I will start hunting more accessories. I'm lucky that it came with 11 mags, cartridge belt and a bag full of original tools. emmagee1917
One thing the early ones had a problem with was the OOW produced semi-hammer . Some were not hard enough and wore quickly where the bolt rides . They will fix it if you have a bad one . You should know after a couple thousand rounds . Never was a bad problem .Chris
