The Lone Ranger
Or a recommendation would do as well. Seeking anyone who could help a friend research/confirm a firearm that was allegedly removed from Dillinger's residence after he was killed. Specifically looking for documents - police/FBI reports, property sheets, something solid. The firearm is a known entity, just looking to prove the story associated with it if possible. jim c 351
LR,Going by memory, Anna sage threw John's Thompson into lake Michigan. It was found by some kids and taken from the kids by the law.I believe its in the possession of the FBI and used in the FBI display. That would be the place to search. Some one here will come up with the serial number. This info is found somewhere on this sight and possibly on the late Larry Wack's FBI sight. Oldtrooper
I have a Dillinger "artifact" ... A Five dollar silver certificate that Dillinger gave to my dad when he was 12 years old and working at his uncle's gas station in Plymouth Indiana ... My dad recalled that the back seat of the car was "full of Tommy guns and shotguns" He said Dillinger was quite open about who he was, and that he was very friendly ... Just adds to the prevailing legend of Dillinger.
The Lone Ranger
Item in question is an 1897 Winchester. Loads of reports on FBI web page, but from what I could find they were all about the informant, wait out, and shooting of Dillinger.
