StrangeRanger
First, do a little research on 98 Mausers. Hatcher's Notebook by Maj. Gen. Julian S. Hatcher is a very, very good place to start. It has a wealth of information on just about all the firearms of that era. It can be had for on-line under $20 in paperback. Second, under Federal law if you're not at least 18 you cannot legally buy a rifle, or the serialized part of one (the receiver) from a dealer. Sales of rifles from private individuals are not regulated by Federal law so gun shows or classifieds would be your only options. Be aware that many people at gun shows will not sell to anyone under 18 regardless of the law. Some states have much tighter laws than the Feds so check on your state laws as well.
