Arctic Paratrooper
I stumbled across this at an estate sale and I knew I couldn't pass it up.I have collected several WW1/WW2 firearms and I knew it wasn't a "Trench Gun" but I knew it was very similar. The serial number puts it in the 1943 range. I have done a little research on this style/barrel and I have found that this may have been used for arial gunnery training but I would like to see what you guys think. Thanks for any info. jim c 351
The odds are you have a military riot gun that someone added a Cutts comp on the barrel to make it more useful.A gunnery training shotgun would have had a longer barrel, probably 26 inches.Jim C
Artic Paratrooper
So is it worth anything with the comp on it?
Artic Paratrooper
I guess my next question is how many Riot Guns were made compared to the Trench Guns?
Adg105200
Nice find! Check this video out. Aerial gunnery training. Not easy to tell, but it looks like it has a comp on it. Start at about 6:05. Hope this helps a little. Andrew
av8tr
Someone added the recoil pad to the butt stock as well. I have a nice Model 12 trench gun, and have been looking for a nice Model 12 riot gun for awhile. Most of the riot guns I come across have issues. It does seem to me more trench guns come up for sale than riot guns. That being said, the trench guns still appear to bring more money.
