Scoobie1
Please let me know if you guys plan a shoot, I'd love to drive up for the weekend. Plus, it would be a great excuse for me to visit the family. If for some reason you can't secure a shooting spot, I might be able to talk my uncle into letting us use the family farm out in Piney Flats. This is probably not likely, but I can always ask. We've got about 100 acres and a decent shooting backdrop, I usually let go with my '27 and no one has ever complained.
sten guy
Congradulations SGT: The M1 you got today is a real beauty... Just being there when you picked it up was almost a much fun as if it were mine. ( Would you re-consider selling ??) Grey Crow
A south eastern shoot?? Sounds like a plan! LOL, June perhaps? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Maybe we could convince Chris to bring over a bushel basket of those lil fuzzy things. Are they still in season in June?
Sgt
Sten-- I had a great time picking up the M1. Wished I had a mag with me, we could have tried it out. Grew Crow and guys-- Yea, a TN shoot sounds like a plan. TAC 2 allows Class III stuff. Maybe they could sponsor it. If any of you guys know the owner, maybe you could get the ball rolling. Thanks all for your help. I'll post pictures shortly.
Roland, Headless Thompson Gunner
So Sgt. who signed off on your xfer? Or do we need to file an FOIA request? Just curious as to who is/isn't doing their job at the ATF.
Sgt
Hey Roland-- The sign-off name was Savage. I'm assuming it was the same lady who spoke with me on the phone. I'm still not sure how the fingerprint check works, or whether that was even the true reason for the delay. All I know is, when I began the inquiries, the form suddenly gets approved. Where was it in the mean time?
sten guy
Sgt:: Have you turned the M1 loose yet???!!! I am sure that when you explained the purchase to Monique that she was understanding... Probably didn't say a word http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif .... STEN
Sgt
For those of you who don't know, Monique is my lifesized drawing manneqiun. She often gives me the silent treatment when my affection changes to other inanimate objects. Sten, I haven't had the chance to give the m-1 a nice dump. I did examine everything with a magnifying glass to see if I missed any markings. I'll give it a good cleaning, but there doesn't appear to be any substantial wear on the internals. I'm glad it came with the m-1 bolt. I'll give you a call later, to help me break it in. I took all that glossy varnished blonde wood off and replaced it with some battleworn GI wood. I put the sling on her and she looks absolutely lovely, when I pose it next to the 28. Gosh guys, this obsession sure is fun. Wished I had started many years ago. I woud have given Murray a run for his money. LOL http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif
TNKen
Yeah, I know Doc down at Tac2. He like's MG's as well. I've let him play with my HK53 at IDPA matches before. He probably would let us do it, which would be better than a public range. My guess is a few bucks for the space. We could probably get him to set up a stage or two for a subgun match if someone would let him shoot with their gun. I'll look into it. TNKen
Doc Bryant at Tac2 in Greeneville, TN says he is interested in hosting the shoot. We have to get together and work out the details. Here is a link to his range: http://www.tac2.net/index.php Now, how many folks are interested? Ken
