Frankford
I have 2 Colt Thompson 1921 sling swivels that came in with several WW2 verticle grips. They are both the same shape, different level of finish.Dark one has a Anchor & Z stamped into the swivel. Shiny one has a R stamped under the base. Just want a value for these to keep family harmony.Thank you, Frankford Edited August 15, 2019 by Frankford
darrylta
About $10 per, these swivels were standard issue for the M1917 Enfield rifles.A very common item. the Colt / Remington furniture is another story.Darryl Edited August 15, 2019 by darrylta
anjong-ni
I have one of Gordon's shiny sling-tenon-blocking plates. I asked him if Colt 1921s came with rear sling-swivels standard. I actually don't remember the answer....Phil

TD.
It has been documented that Auto-Ordnance purchased 2000 sling swivels, believed to be the Enfield off-set swivels, from the R.F. Sedley Company between 1928 and 1930. However, finding a Colt Thompson in the marketplace with off-set sling swivels is difficult. I feature several in my new book, one with Enfield or "E" marked swivels and two with unmarked (at least on the outside) swivels. Be sure and save the screws that came with the swivels. Auto-Ordnance approved the manufacture and use of what become later known as the GI sling swivel in 1935. Also approved was a newly designed horizontal fore grip. I don't think I have ever seen a set of these "new" swivels (or fore grip) on a documented original Colt's in the USA. The reason simple; most civilian sales of all Colt models featured the vertical fore grip. However, the 500 Swedish Model of 1928A Colt's all featured the new horizonal fore grip and sling swivels. I would guess the 951 Colt's ordered by the US government in June 1939 were also equipped with the new horizontal fore grip and swivels but none exist that I know of in original condition.
