Bounty1
Thanks Dalbert, PaulF, and Texasvwnut. Last year at the Thompson S&S in Indiana, my 50 was a jam-o-matic queen. I searched for help on the boards here and was helped incredibly by the 3 individuals mentioned. It took a year to do this, as the magazine housing had been put on by King Kong, and I had to get a friend with hydraulic equipment to push out the pins to get to the inside of the bolt and firing pin. Paul F had a thread out here that I followed as it described perfectly what was happening, shooting once or twice and then jam. Over and over. Texasvwnut helped me after I sent him some pictures, and I was on my way after getting a new spring set from Numrich, and having to replace the firing pin, because after finally getting to it, it was broken in half about 1/2 inch from the front of the bolt. Long story short: You guys got my 50 chattering like a champ, and I am so very thankful. I just had a chance to check it out during a free fire shoot we had here. I will now have to buy some 30 rd. mags to keep this thing full. You guys, as so many of you out there have done, helped me with a problem and a fix for it, that I would not have been able to fix anywhere else. I followed PaulF's prescription for replacing the main spring, firing pin spring, firing pin that had been in 2 pieces, and was able to clean out 69 years worth of gunk that I couldn't get to before. Anyway, thanks a lot to all of you. Your help is greatly appreciated. These forums are a wealth of info that gets swapped back and forth. This particular 50 was my first Class III purchase, so it has sentimental value, and now it shoots like a champ. It left the factory on Dec. 8, 1941, so I think has a bit of history to tell there too. Thanks to all of you for your help in getting this baby so it "rocks and rolls."
