thomas.hondo
Wonder if anybody owns or has looked at one of these - not expecting much though for the price. http://www.ima-usa.com/u-s-thompson-smg-fbi-carry-case.html
David
I've never thought of IMA to have good reproductions. Their surplus or original stuff was never to bad though.
Big Al
These are new today. I saw it this morning in the IMA newsletter. It appears the only difference between an original and this reproduction is the lack of a place for the spare parts kit. OCM
Says it only takes a military 1928, M1, M1A1. Guess my Colt 21s are out. Oh well. OCM
Dolphinvet
I'm going to write to them and see if it will take a 21. The original cases are priced at ludicrous levels.
OCM
Doc-I was kinda making a joke, 10.5 should work, I think. It's not original nor Fox case, BUT 1000% better then the Chinese Kahr case. It's a police case, not FBI, with the side latches, even better. Thought someone recently came up with good repos, maybe the stuff David L was selling ? These things get heavy, so get the best you can afford. No place for the kit and no slots for the XX box magazine- BUT 200 clams- Good luck. AlexanderA
I just received one of these cases, and my overall impression was.... well, prepare to be disappointed. The quality tells me that this was haphazardly made in some cut-rate workshop in India or Pakistan. It seems to be made of 3/8" plywood, indifferently covered with a leatherette material on the outside, and a blue velour fabric on the inside. The hardware is the worst part. Most of it needs to be replaced, especially the handle and the lock. These are really shoddy. The fit is tight for the gun, and loose for the drum and 20-round stick magazines. On the other hand, we can't expect too much at this $200 price point. The included cleaning rod appears to be an OK reproduction. thomas.hondo
Thanks for the feedback. We used to have a board member - Robert? - who for roughly 500.00 made great repro's a few years back....too bad the service is no more. Dolphinvet
Glad I didn't order one if the workmanship and quality is that poor.

AlexanderA
I got a replacement handle and lock for the IMA case (believe me, this was necessary). These two items set me back about $40 on ebay. You might want to consider this added cost when ordering this case.
dam6
I got one, and for the price, $ 199.95 + 17.87, it's a good case for my sbr kahr, I consider it is a repo of a repo, and for what it is I think it is a good useable case. it has a fbi inside, and a police outside. since no one is making a ( $500- $600 ) good repo, I consider it a fair price. and as a bonus you get a good repo 20" fbi cleaning rod. I have pics, but don't know how to post them. I can send them to any one who is intersted, or can post them. email us553@webtv.net
gonzo25mm
I bought one, it's a neat looking piece of memorabelia but not something you really want to knock around. Putting it in my (going to yhe range)car I would throw a blanket over it so it doesn't get dinged or knicked up. I certianly would not use it on patrol (unless someone else was paying for it). With all the junk I used to keep in my patrol car, it would not last 6months, if that.If you buy one treat it like gold. The one thing I will say for it, is the issue with the hardware was not a problem with me. All of the latches lock up tight and the lock seemed OK. Lets remember one thing here, this is nothing but a box with a few latches on it, a hammer of any quality will remedy this situation. Now if you really want to protect you investment, I would buy diamond plate steel and put one together that way!!!Ken C.
