  1. If you are shooting modern ammunition a separate "military approved" bore cleaner is a bit of an overkill. I have used G96 to clean firearms for over forty years, if there was a problem with this method I am sure it would have shown up well before now. https://g96.com/product/gun-treatment/ Now with that said, after shooting suspected corrosive ammunition I will clean the firearm first with Ballistol, then oil with G96. However the only firearms I shoot with this type ammunition are belt feds and your question was about Thompsons.

  2. There are 4 separate change documents for FM 23-40. C1 and C2 are fairly common. C4 is very hard to find. I will dig mine out. My original response stated there were 6 supplements. (Until I edited it 17 minutes afterwards) I was going from memory, and I believe I was thinking of FM 23-7 for the Carbine, or FM 23-35 for the M1911A1. Memory is a funny thing... David

  3. Read up on here by doing a "search" on the WH issues if you haven't already. A WW2 GI barrel would clear up chamber problems. Light strikes or no strikes means the bolt is stopping before the hammer is fully striking the front of the receiver so it can rotate and hit the firing pin. I think PK or Dan can resize the chamber to correct specs.

  4. I had a similar issue on my WH after it sat for 10+ years in my safe. My problem was solved with a new recoil spring and it's been running great ever since. Hopefully you have the same results.

  5. great job i have 2- 27 Thompsons i use for reenacting one is done with the british modifications. where the sling swivel is mounted on the top of the buttstock and the front horizontal and vertical sling swivels are mounted on the side. on the horizontal grip the swivel is mounted to the rear left. i use the barrel bands on both my Thompsons to relieve the stress on the grip rest which are both half inch. my west hurley was made in 75 and comes with the grip rest with the rivet my other thompson uses the kerr sling. both have removable butt stocks,10.5 blank fire barrels, ezpull springs, the selector switches that hold the bolt back modified mag catch for using original mags etc etc. hey its only money!!!!
