  1. HI all, I found a source for BM 59 Barrels and they are willing to do a group buy. Interest? Pam Weller <pam@bulaforge.com> Today at 11:35 AM To Michael Spivey Message bodyBarrel pricing: 10 - 165 20 - 165 50 - 155 Thank you, Pam Bula Forge & Machine (216) 252-7600 From: Michael Spivey [mailto:mike.spivey@att.net] Sent: Monday, February 19, 2018 11:18 PM To: Pam Weller Cc: Jeff@buladefense.com Subject: Fw: BM59 Barrels Pam, I am retransmitting this email to you again as you have not yet replied to my previous one sent on Feb 13th 2018. In addition to my desire to purchase a barrel please provide a quote for 10, 20 and 50 barrels for a possible group buy. Regards Michael Spivey
  2. Gentlemen, any progress scanning the Italian BM59 manual?
  3. I was looking forward to it "being well under 200.00". That being said I will be ordering one anyway, beggars can not be choosers, but I will be machining it to the BM59 band configuration
  4. I am working up a drawing to machine the grenade sight boss as a sub part and be able to silver solder it to the gas valve that is currently available.
  5. Do any here have one available or know of a source for a BM59 Gas valve with the Grenade sight attachment boss on it. I machine my own gas valves without the attaching boss and they are also available from Standard Parts LLC so that is not a problem. Here is the difference for those that do not know: With Grenade Sight Boss and the sight attached to the gas valve http://picturearchive.gunauction.com/465197/11720624/bm-59-pic-10.jpg_thumbnail0.jpg And other of the gas valve from the front with out the sight attached. http://pictures.GunAuction.com/465197/11720624/p1020266.jpg_thumbnail0.jpg And one without the grenade sight boss on the gas valve. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/2.jpg
  6. Any availability status or per barrel cost yet? I would like one (maybe two) as well. Ciao Kenshi
  7. I found this photo on gunbroker from an old for sale post. With this and the BM59 Lower Band and clip I have I believe I can backwards engineer the approximate dimensions of the barrel boss. IF there is any on the board that has one of these barrels available and could put dimensions to the lower band barrel boss it would be a great help. I will draw this area in my CAD program and post it here on the board for all. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/8936/vol1no4pix690800367.jpg
  8. I have a BM59 Lower band and the clip. What I am looking for is the machining performed on the stock BM59 Ital barrel to fit the band and clip.
  9. Can any share a photo or photos of the lower band attachment area on a stock BM59 Barrel where the clip retainer is used?
  10. Does anyone have a sketch or drawing of the stock BM59 lower band boss and clip attachment configuration on the barrel that they would be willing to share?
  11. Hi all, Some time has passed and I am happy to say that I have almost completed a drawing package of the Mod and parts necessary to turn a M1919A4 into a Navy Mk21 Mod0 gun alowing it to feed using the M13 links used in the M60 and M240 GPMGs. I am lacking a couple of parts drawings in that package, the Mk21 Flash Hider, the rear belt pawl and the MK21 top cover belt feed pawl. Those parts are still being searched for. Here a two photos of a cut receiver section on a Mk21, one can see the link support on the right side, and the belt pawls and the round stop. http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/7567/copyofmgmk215.jpg http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/7451/mgmk211.jpg Using an Izzy 7.62NATO Top Cover and Feed Pawl, and the wider Izzy LH Belt Pawl AND the MK21 parts necessary to support the M13 links the gun feeds great.
  12. Does anyone have a sketch or drawing of the stock BM59 lower band boss and clip attachment configuration on the barrel that they would be willing to share?
  13. Thanks Dan, You have answered one of the issues that no one had an answer for. That issue is how the side plate was identified!!
  14. Here are three pics from the web that show a Mk21 Mod0. Look closely at the belted ammo and you can see the M13 links with the brass peeking through the open portion of the link facing up. The muzzle break was also singular to this Mark. http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/7131/mk21mod0r44.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/7457/mk21mod0.jpg http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1594/mk21mod0r45.jpg
  15. Can any one shed additional light on the story behind the Mk21 Mod0 US Navy Viet Nam conversion of the M1919A4 where it was barreled to 7.62x51mm and used the M13 link which was also used with the M60 machine gun? Anyone on the board have one that they could do a virtual or pictorial walk around? I am looking for any and all data including actual mil specifications, pictures, Mod kits, drawings, manuals, and personal commentary. Also a pic of how it was identified on the right side plate would be really nice. Not much is really known about this version/mod of the iconic M1919A4 and what is commonly known would barely fill this page.
  16. When installing the spindle valve be very careful not to tighten the nut too tight. Tightening the nut excessively will cause the spindle valve to separate (pull apart) at the gas port in the valve. This is what started me making gas valves for people.
  17. If I had an aluminum sand casting bench setup I could make the legs for the bipod using the existing legs I have as patterns. The BM59 Bipods Gas Cylinder attachment block, leg pivot screws, clamp and clamp screws are nothing special and I already have made the drawings to machine them. After the first of January the barrel and the demountable QD Tri Comp were amomg my planed purchases from Reeses so that I could draw it in my CAD program and be able to machine copies. All I needed are samples. Except for very few parts: the BM59 Barrel, BM59 MKIV Barrel, MKIV Bipod, MKIV Stock and Hand grip, and the QD Tri Comp, All other parts of the BM59 family I have CAD files of and can/could produce them in my machine shop - when it gets warmer here in Las Vegas NM that is - GRIN. For the BM59 Barrel (not MKIV) all I really need is a detail sketch with dimensions of the lower band and clip attachment area, the rest, except OAL and chambering, is pure .30-06 Garand. I have BM59 Mags and with a hyd press and a spot welder, I could make the Magazines, however, It makes much more sense to modify the M1 Garand Receiver and BM59 Mag Catch to accept either M-14 or FAL Mags. I prefer FAL Mag (cheaper).
  18. Darryl, Cut yourself a section of brass rod that matches the diameter if the threads you want to check out. Cut a "V" in the rod along the length of the tip and taper it as well. Thread that into the threads and let the threads cut a matching set on the brass rod. You now have a set of threads you can examine and measure to your hearts content and it will answer your questions. This is how I figure out just what the thread is on a screw I have to duplicate. It is a gunsmiths and a machinists trick of the trade.
  19. Vic, There are also some that think 7.62mm NATO and .308 Winchester are the same. Those of us that know that they are not the same do not make that mistake. Every chance I get I point out the difference between the specifically limited loads that are 7.62x51mm NATO and the wide differences in the .308 Winchester universe. Being chambered in and being able to digest the entire .308 Winchester catalog of loads are two entirely separate subjects. A similar conversation is between .30-06 Mil Spec and .30-06 Commercial. Ciao Kenshi (Swordsman)
  20. Does anyone have or can anyone provide a dimensioned drawing or sketch of the fwd band area of a BM59 barrel? I had planed to buy a BM59 Barrel from Reeses as a Christmas present to my self so I could document it and be able to modify Garand barrels to the BM59 Configuration. Imagine my surprise when I attempted to log on to Resses and place my Order. Any hoo any help would be appreciated and I can post the finished barrel drawing if anyone is interested. I have made quite a number of BM59 Parts drawings if any one has any requests. Kenshi AKA BM59_Fan on some boards.
  21. Could you please explain just what you mean by an Italian M1A. I am not at all sure what you are refering to. Thanks Mike
  22. Is there some confusion that there are two different spindle valves? One type allows the mounting of the grenade flip up sight (direct sight) and at the same time also allows the mounting of the indrect sight on the end of the spidle valve (illustrated in this thread). The other type ONLY allows the flip up sight to be used (illustrated here) http://www.autoweapons.com/photosn/533bm59e.jpg. Mike
  23. Here is an interesting Accessory for your BAR. Sure would like to know how it works!! I know it is attached to an M37 Swede but I bet it would not make a big deal of difference!! Here is a link to the article Swedish Machineguns http://gotavapen.se/gota/artiklar/kg/kg_bilder/kg_band.JPG
