  1. The reference to "MC" might mean Machine Carbine. The Sten gun was called a machine carbine during that era and obviously there was a significant British military influence in Palestine at the time. Jeff
  2. I am offering these books for sale. They are both in "like new" condition. The Ultimate Thompson Book by Tracie Hill is autographed by the author. $145 shipped to CONUS Thompson: The American Legend $215 shipped to CONUS Buyers outside of the USA will have additional shipping based on location. Thank you Dave. Jeff jwhisler@wi.rr.com
  3. Very nice! I can't wait to take my grandaughters Kaitlyn 4 and Lilly 1 out to shoot the M1-A1. Kaitlyns favorite store is "Belas". (Cabelas) Jeff
  4. I bought Olga, the Swedish "K", from Nick a few years ago. It was a very prompt and professional expierence. Jeff
  5. I forgot to mention..... My gun has an M1 bolt in it not an M1-A1. If that makes a difference ot the problem? Jeff
  6. Hyperdyne, Sorry for the delay in my response. The problem I had sounds very similar to yours. I would press the trigger. The gun would operate normally. When I released the trigger the gun continued to fire once or twice. I was fortunate to have a complete spare kit at the time. I used the AGI video and replaced parts until the problem resolved. I "think" it was what TM 9-215 calls the "Sear Lever". I believe I replaced the "Sear", "Sear Lever" and "Trip". I didn't replace any springs along the way. I did try various ammunition as well. FWIW I am not gunsmith. I am barely a tinkerer. Most, if not all the folks on this board have more Thompson knowledge in thier little finger than I do in my whole BHG, I also second the suggestion to have PK look at it. I am sure he could fix it in a hot minute. Best of luck, Jeff
  7. I had the same problem with my M1-A1. It is also 1943 ish vintage. Mine was finally resolved by replacing the sear, the rocker and one other small part. Good luck and have fun! Jeff
  8. A very small footnote. There is a brief reference in "Clandestine Operations" by Pierre Lorain (originally Armement Clandestin in French) mentions that only a very small number of Thompson's were air dropped to the French Resistance. Lorain also mentions that Maurice Buckmaster's "Specially Employed" (London 1952) gives details of weapons dropped into occupied Europe. Not sure if there is any mention of Thompson's. He writes about a specific serial range of 1911 pistols dropped to one resistance group in France. My copy is now long gone. Jeff
  9. I have 16 36 round "K" (Soumi) magazines for sale. 1 is parkerized the rest are blued. The are in very good to excellent condition. $125 includes flat rate shipping to first 48 states. Jeff
  10. I have the grip. I uploaded the wrong picture.... :banghead: Jeff
  11. I have a M1-A1 parts kit for sale. It is complete except the horizontal fore grip screw is missing. The kit was disassembled and cleaned at some point. I paid $950. The price is $800 = $20 shipping to CONUS address. I have pictures if you are interested. Thanks for looking. Jeff
  12. Bob, I have an M1-A1 parts kit I am willing to part with. I over paid a few years ago but really don't have a need for it. I am no RKI but I would guess the condition is good. (not very good or excellent). If you are interested I could take some pictures. Let me know. Jeff
  13. I second the AGI DVD recommendation. I bought it reluctantly but it has proven very valuable. It helped me disassemble and reassemble my M1-A1 several times troubleshooting a pesky fire control issue. Jeff
  14. All, I finally diagnosed the problem as a worn sear. I cannot see any perceptible difference between the original sear and the one I used from a parts kit which fixed the problem. Jeff
  15. I am embarrassed to admit I have never fired it on semi.
  16. I should have been more precise. In full auto mode it sometimes fires an extra round or two after I release the trigger. Bam Bam...Bam
  17. Today I tried some UMC factory loads. Exactly the same results, several doubles per magazine. Next I am going to try a new sear and spring. Jeff
  18. In anticipation of the arrival of my first Thompson I placed an order for several thousand .45 caliber projectiles early last March. They were finally delivered on Monday. I guess that means things are getting better. Jeff
  19. Thanks to all for the suggestions. I will try them one a at a time and report back. Best wishes Jeff
  20. I recently took delivery of my first Thompson. It is a Savage M1-A1 with an M1 bolt. During my first range session the gun fired an "extra" round after I released the trigger several times. Both the bolt and the sear look ok to my very untrained eye. The ammunition were reloads that very reliably cycle a 1911, Glock and S&W M&P 45. I have a complete spare parts kit which I over paid for but it is in very poor condition. I have tried to search the archives but I really haven't found anything specific. I would appreciate any thoughts from the distinguished members. Best wishes, Jeff
  21. My dealer called last night to say the paperwork is here. :woot:
  22. 4 1/2 months on the second transfer and counting..................... I am going crazy here.
  23. Thank you for all the suggestions. I will be looking at the item you published Dave! Time to pull out the "Band of Brothers" video. Thank you all for the wonderful source of information. It has been very informative and useful. Jeff
