  1. I have no problem waiting on things. I waited 8 years for one of those belted Shrike uppers. I waited 3 years for a host for my Fleming HK sear. But this Thompson deal was different. It was so far out of my control, between the ATF and Dell's situation, and the long wait for part of my refund. His title/transfer/money problems became mine. Coincidentally, I retired just after ATF denied the transfer. My Mom died during all this, last year. Life has gone on. This failed Thompson transfer was pain, disappointment, anger, and anxiety, nothing like my other NFA experiences. Now I feel relief. I'm so happy that it's all behind me. Maybe with time I'll get the excitement back. Maybe, if I see a gun that appeals to me. If I get one I'll post it here. Earliest will be a year!
  2. Nah, I'm done. If we started over we're talking about a 3 year process all told. I'm not wasting another year of my life on the ATF.
  3. I am not aware of transfer issues NOW: Dell finally persuaded ATF to put it in his name, it took a lawyer I'm told. Too late for my transfer! I'm just glad I finally have all my money back. Any questions should be directed to Dell.
  4. That was me. A long story. Short version: gun was in Dell's dad's estate. His dad died more than 10 years ago. ATF declined after 15 months (September 2016.) I got most of my refund then but the rest just came, 11 months later. Dell can fill in the rest, I want to move on with my life. I'm done with new NFA purchases, and Thompsons.
  5. I bid on 4888, it went for more than I was willing to pay. The guy who won looks to have bid 1 more time to win, so even if I had upped my bid, no telling if he would bid one more too. It was a beaut, IMHO.
  6. There was one on sale in the past couple of months. A good photo will show it. It's visually obvious if it's past the rings in a 21 or 28. If you have it in your hands, it's even more obvious, and the bulge looks like a dark ring from the inside.
  7. Looking at the better photos I think it was a scratch which was carefully touched up with cold blue at some point. On the right I see a small newer scratch on top of the old blued one. Look at the left side of the old scratch. The darker color of the touch up varies a bit in width. The scratch can be seen as a thinner line within the darker blue. Edit: Note the butt stock isn't included. Just my humble opinion. A nasty scratch with a touch up at some point in the guns history.
  8. Serial numbers match receiver and trigger frame. C&R FFL is OK to bid according to seller, but govdeals tells me it's not. I think govdeals trumps the seller.
  9. Buyers have to be licensed dealers, according to the ad. I've asked if a C&R is good enough.
  10. Beautiful gun. I hope your transfer goes faster than mine. Mine went pending in October 2015, and I'm still waiting.
  11. Sold, but there's another on the boards, with an original FBI case. It's $44.9k.
  12. It's small primer ammo, in case you reload, but seems to shoot good. Friends have shot a lot of it.
  13. I found a Richardson replica fore grip, and it looks very good. Feels great too. I'd buy another if I could... Now if only my gun can get approved so I can put the fore grip on. 10 months from first submission: pending on the later submission since October...
  14. You could import it if you went back in time. No longer possible to import NFA for civilians.
  15. I think the 21s seem to sell for more than the 28s from the price guide. But any Colt in fine condition is rare and therefore going up be expensive. I like the 21A, that's just me. Less to clean. And of the guns I've seen sold, a lot less common. I'm still waiting on my 21A, 8 months and counting due to various issues.
