  1. It should be transferred on a form 5, repair. Though it is not a requirment. 01 ffl Can do the work as gunsmith is part of being an 01.
  2. The seat is supposed to move back and forth. Look at the video again.
  3. Before swapping out parts, make sure it is not the recoil spring or ammo problem.Make sure the bolt goes all the way to the rear and you are not getting hammer follow. If it resets every time when running it manually, then it is probably short stroking and the hammer is following the bolt.
  4. Just so you do your search right, the M65 was called "The General". The later M165, M150 and M151 were "Leathernecks".
  5. There was also the recoil check. This one was a foreign contract one but Underwood made some at the end of WWII.
  6. Check to make sure the magazine is locking in place. Do they fall out when release button is pushed? Check your trigger housing fit and that the pin is in place.Check the extractor for stiffness and burrs. Extractors are a weak link in these.
  7. It can be done. You will need to re-stake the ball back in. There are punches to do this. You will need to be careful To only remove the old staking ring by moving the metal back. This can be done with a center punch. But, unless the spring is broken, a good spay degreaser into the detent hole or a penetrating oil to loosen any hardened oil or grease would be where to start.
  8. Most refer to the F.S. Co. As the fake sling company
  9. I ha nd to hand an no more ammo, it's loads better than a rock or rifle butt. Not all fighting is from a distance.
  10. Your Hammer engagement is bad. You probably need a new hammer or sear. I would look at the sear Spring as well.
  11. There is a bayonet that is like the Carcano folding bayonet. There is a reproduction being made for both of these rare bayonets at a good price. Here is the reproduction Beretta bayonet with an original Carcano bayonet
  12. Wrong forum this is for the U.S. M1 and M2 carbines. You want the Been forum further down the list
  13. You know, you could start collecting the faked military stamped firearms. Lots of them out there. You just need to know if it is real or fake.
  14. The was a fun shop in California that would stamp military firearms to get more money for them. He sold stuff in Shotgun News. Lots of "altered" firearms out there as a result. Some never knew they had a fake. If the Navy did buy any of these there would be more information out there. Everything so far indicates it was a Marine contract only the Navy already had the bolt action 22's like the Mossberg 44US.
  15. The first has a serial number that is too high to be a contract rifle. The second, though in the correct serial number range, would also be suspect as these rifles were U.S.M.C. Contract not Navy.
  16. Can you say he he teeth? That fear sight is t.he hardest to find. You might find a donor rifle aka sporterized. What sight is on yours?
  17. That looks correct! Glad it isn't altered. The other pic did make it look bad. My first M65 has a serial number close to yours.mine is in the 1300 serial number range. I will have to dig it out to get the exact number.
  18. It's not real clear on the pics, but the stock looks like the forarm might have been shaved down. The reinforcing bolts look to be too close to the bottom side of the stock
  19. Nice find. Getting harder to find the USMC contract M65's
  20. What ammo were you using? It could be ammo. It could be someone messed with the front sight. Or it could be how you are aligning the front sight in the rear peep. It might have been set for 6 o'clock hold on a 25 yard target
  21. If that turns out to be the case, I wonder if putting a bevel on the back of the bolt would decrease the stress.
  22. I don't think the Reising's were parkerized from the factory originally. One of the complaints was they rusted in the Pacific theater. What you should be looking for is the proper acceptance stamps. Not sure there is a record of serial number ranges for the military contract Dalbert my have that in his files.
