are those original, or the reproductions that are out there?
-
The reason I said that it might not be transferable is they don't know how they got it. It would seem there would be a record if it was on a form 4 or 5. They might have lost the papers, but the BATFE should still have their copy. A year or so back, a police dept had a MG with no paper work. They thought hey had a gold mine till it was found out it was never registered. A dealer is not going to give them top dollar. No profit in it for them.

This is probably not on a form 4. Thus it won't be worth what they think it is worth. That might be why they will only sell to an 03 dealer.

Stamp arrived, Reising finally home
n64atlas replied to garandcollector's topic in Reising Message Board
Agree, carry copies. You do have to have them, when taking firearm any where. The reason you carry a copy, or several for that matter, is so you won'l lose the original. Also so some cop doesn't tear it up. -
Be careful Reisings can be addictive. Here is what happened to me: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/DSC_0172_zpsdaf647cd.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/DSC_0170_zpsc6ebe5b8.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/ff9a1480-6aaf-4b7f-b493-77e7058ca74d_zpsdf170fa8.jpg

One of the reasons the Marines hated the Reising was they rusted in the south Pacific because of the blued steel. They also didnt like them because the parts were hand fitted to each firearm. The Marines would dissemble for cleaning and dump all the parts into a barrel. Upon reassembly, The Reising wouldn't work. As said above, buy Franks book. Some great info in the book. They are fun to shoot, but parts are starting to dry up. Some reproduction parts are being made though.

Someone was looking for a M2 marked carbine?
n64atlas replied to timkel's topic in The M1/M2 Carbine Message Board
Mine is closer to M2 timeline than that one. It's an overstamp, but not a true M2 even though it is in the right serial number range. It was done by Rock Island around 1986. -
One other thing to look for is the screw that holds the mag catch being loose or striped. My 50 was that way.

You can bend the spring at the top, to the correct angle.

Recent Purchase: M1 converted to M2
n64atlas replied to 43willys's topic in The M1/M2 Carbine Message Board
be careful in vibroing loaded rounds. It ca break down the powder inside the case and cause pressure problems. Best to use a lube that wipes off easily, Reloading is not meant to be fast for some ammo. You need to check case length AFTER sizing anyway. Take your time and do it right. -
My Blackhawk in 30 carbine is like that. Don't have a range to shoot the M50 or M60 Reisings indoors.
-
The commercial guns didn't have sling swivels. I think the ones on my M50 were added after it left H&R. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/6f48af18-a526-4fcc-b52d-7abef4898eda_zps05418a1d.jpg

look at spending $2000 for a case. I picked up a rebro mag pouch a while back. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/6f48af18-a526-4fcc-b52d-7abef4898eda_zps05418a1d.jpg -

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/002-2.jpg There was a guy selling the leather Reising slings on e-bay or gunbroker a while back. The canvas slings come up once in a while. There are different colors and sling tip metals. I think Dave has some picks and I have posted some as well on this forum. Some are mistaken for carbine slings. You just have to know what to look for. In the pic above, the Reising slings are in the middle -
Companies won't build them because of the risk of baffle strikes.

The 151 is a rare gun, not easy to find in any condition. The 165's are easier to find. I have one that might fit your bill. It is missing the rear sight and has a dovetail cut into the barrel. It had a Winchester sight off a lever action 32 WCF rifle. I would like to keep the sock on this one as it is a M65 stock. Send me a PM if interested.
-
I have now seen three M65 Reisings that have a blued finish. One is on Gunbroker, I own one and the other has a parked receiver and blued barrel. It is on RFC forum, H&R section. Two are in the 5000 range and the other is in the 8000 range I think. I can ask the guy on RFC if he has an adjustable trigger and the disconector update. Now I'm wondering if they are factory bled of someone was doing this on a regular basses. One is drilled and tapped the same place as my Jeff Reising M65. There was also a M150 on Gunbroker that is the standard version with out a checkered stock.

M-1 and M-2 Carbine Ownership Question
n64atlas replied to Paul in PA's topic in The M1/M2 Carbine Message Board
There is one part of the "kit" that really doesn't wear out. That is the hammer. Buy the springs ect. Only buy a hammer when and if you need one. -
Cases sound like they are hitting the action. They are still reloadable if you deside to take that up. Brass does reform well. I agree, these are fun, I really like mine also. Almost as fun as my M50.
-
My M60 has the inleting for the finned barrel and no finger groove in front. No fins on the barrel Didn't stop me from buying it. Just got mine a few weeks ago. Here it is with my M50: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/n64atlas/6f48af18-a526-4fcc-b52d-7abef4898eda_zps05418a1d.jpg

From what I've read, the 60's didn't come out till late war. There were only around 3100 made. Mine is serial no. 1045.. It is parked with no fins on barrel. It does need a new rear sight though. It is broke at the tip and the adjustment piece is on backward. Anyone have a spare parkerized rear sight? If I order from Gun Parts I might get a blued one. As for the 50's, I thought they were all blued, that's one of the reasons the Marines didn't like them. They rusted over night in the salt air.
-
I can't say about the M60, but the M50's were blued. The 60 came later . My 60 is parkerized. It doesn't have miltary rebuild stamps that I have found. Mine might not be in the original stock though. East or west side of Ohio? I'm in NW Ohio

Does the pics have Arizona in the bottom right corner?
