  1. Hello Dave Thank you for increasing my knowledge on this subject . I could never find much info online . I wonder what the total production was ? My boss at work (also my cousin) recently found a nice International Flare Signal Co Mark 52 . No military markings though . I think he found online where these were popular with the Merchant Marine ships . Regards , mitch
  2. Hello Charlie . Great to see a familiar face . Thanks for adding the flaregun forum ! I used to collect WWI/WWII flare guns but sold out a few years ago . I did keep one of these though . Reason being I grew up in Tipp City , OH formerly Tippecanoe City . The factory that made these while no longer there was located about a block from my house . here's my example . http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/mitch61/untitled.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/mitch61/untitled-1.jpg
  3. Sorry , if this is repetative , but I couldn't find it . :banghead: If I sell a mg to an out of state individual , can I (after F4 is approved) send the gun directly to his C3 dealer or do I need a C3 dealer in my state to send it to his dealer ? Thank you !
  4. Interesting . His aide appears to be wearing 2 sidearms . S&W .38 next to his 1911 mag pouch and opposite I think his hand is resting on the 1911 .
  5. When I bought my M3 several years ago , it was mentioned by another that installing 1919 springs would increase the cyclic rate . I never tried it though . Any thoughts on why the military reduced the rate of fire so much as compared to the Thompson's ? Ammo conservation ? Control ? I would assume they experimented with different rates of fire before settling on 400-450 .
  6. Welcome . M3 owner here with standard stamped metal mag button guard . Looks like it would've/could've also served as a sling attachment . http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/mitch61/IMG_1422.jpg
  7. Sorry , no source , but I hope you don't mind a question . Is the extractor a weak link ? They look so robust .
  8. QUOTE (Hawkeye_Joe @ Aug 31 2007, 08:41 PM)Ok.. it has no Thompson's in it but it's great.."The Wind and The Lion"... When the US Marines go double-timing through the market place and the thromping of their boots gets louder and louder and they take the palace....If that's American Imperialism.....well I'm all for it... GOD DAMN that's a great scene...!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/woot.gif Too late now , but it was on tonight at 8 EST on TCM . I liked the Winchester shotgun action towards the end . John Milius is obviously a "gun guy" . He's got a pretty good string of classics . Worth checking out if anyone's not familiar with his work . http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0587518/
  9. Ron Do you have a copy of "China" with Alan Ladd , Loretta Young , Wiliam Bendix ? Pretty good war yarn . A little TSMG action thrown in for good measure http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif
  10. QUOTE (hawksnest @ Aug 28 2007, 05:20 PM) Saboteur also starred Bob Crane of "Hogan's Heros" fame. Since I suffer from "CRS" (Can't remember stuff) does anyone remember if they ever caught Crane's killer? Never caught that I've seen . Bob (Robert) Cummings was Miss Lane's costar . Bob Crane would've been pretty young in '42 .
  11. I was always kinda partial to Priscilla Lane . If you like Alfred Hitchcock , his WWII spy thriller "Saboteur" is a pretty good us against the Nazis yarn . Excellent cast . http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0035279/
  12. QUOTE (sprat @ Aug 26 2007, 02:39 PM) Today on TMC "In Harms Way" George Kennedy's Para marine's jumping out the DC-3(C-47-R2D) with carbines and thompsons (1928's) slung over there shoulders, no pouchs or cases??? is this possible??? Flynn in "Obj Burma" jumps with his carbine in his hand . Hollywood I guess . Wonder if they had a matress below the door http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif
  13. TCM channel ran Flynn movies all day one day last week . After "Objective Burma" played , Robert Osborne , the narrator reported that the British were extremely angry with the movie as they were taking the brunt of the Japanese attacks in that Theater . It was mostly "their show" . The Brits soon pulled it from the movie houses .
  14. Yes , the rof will vary depending on the power of the ammo . I haven't noticed it with my M3 as I have only used surplus US GI ball . It sounds like the QC on MFS (Hungary?) leaves a little to be desired . However , I used to have an MP-40 9mm and used a Wide variety of new and surplus ammo including the NASTY Egyptian surplus . There was a big variation in that stuff possibly increased because the brass would frequently split . Sorry , I can't answer your reassembly question . I've always reassembled mine in the reverse order and it worked .
