  1. Kahr has been making strides in fixing the reported issues with their Thompson's. Most of the list of things to look for I found online had been addressed from the factory. T
  2. Change your mag catch or buy some original mags off the board here that someone has already converted. Otherwise, stick witht he Kahr mags - they do work. T
  3. Thanks all! This was on a new (3/2012 manufacture) Kahr Semi. I figured the problem was generic so I posted in this forum. Some converted (and tested) mags bought off the board were loose and were not feeding on the right consistently. Some overrides, and some misfeeds. Half of the factory Kahr mags were occasionally misfeeding on the right, with loose lockup. Feed from drums is 100.00% reliable. So, I figured it was the mag catch. The mag catch was visibly low in the cutout. I adjusted the catch. They are rather soft, although the steel itself sparks like 1030 or 1040. I pulled the catch up ~.040". At that all but one factory mag would seat. The others seated with little or no play. After a little more adjustment and some deburring on 2 of the Kahr mags, I now have all the mags locking up with virtually no play, pretty much as ReconBob recommends. The converted mags can move vertically about .030", but appear to feed well now. I'll have to go check at the range to be sure. T
  4. How much vertical play is acceptable or normal in the lock up of a stick mag? Thanks T
  5. You will have to permanently modify the body of the magazine. You might try swaging in some impressions around the body that will keep the follower from being depressed too far. The trick is the spring still needs to be able to freely move. T
  6. Mine have worked well. I have tried ordering recently via that link, but the cart always turns up empty.
  7. Double check the catalog number as not all of them come with a drum. The new production 30-rnd magazines have been around for a while. Mine works better than the converted TMSG 30's. T
  8. My Kahr 1927 works very well, and a lot of the gripes that I found online were addressed (e.g. sight rivets needing peening, etc).
  9. Specialty Sports in Colorado Springs had two as of the 26th. May be gone by now.
  10. The mags were received in good order and quickly. They look great. Thanks! Chris
  11. Took the new Kahr 1927 out. Overall I am very pleased. There were 5 misfeeds out of 160 rounds. Three were on the first mag, two while feeding from the right. The round would hang up/cock in the feed area. Sometimes a second would push forward. This was with PMC FMJ. I inspected the chamber mouth. It is well rounded, but could be polished. The corners of the feed ramp and the right mag feed lip were sharp, so I broke those edges when I got home. I also smoothed out the underside of the bolt. One PMC round hung up the same way coming out of the drum. Otherwise the drum ran very fine - when I wound it enough. A short mag of 200 gr truncated cone rounds that I use in my 1911's was uncooperative. It loved box of 230 gr lead RNFP. The trigger was excellent, if a bit long. Only other issue was the rear sight pin trying to drift out. It behaved after being fully tapped back in. Now to get more mags. I need to thank everyone on this sight for their past postings - they have already been a wealth of information. T
