I bought an unused, in the box Bridgeport L Drum. I'm sure I was the first person to open the drum up since it was boxed at the factory. There has been no oil or preservative on the drum outer body. The "WIND TO 9 OR 11 CLICKS" characters have a yellowed "fill" of some type in them. It is light and there is a "smear" trace, as if someone dipped a sponge or maybe their finger in paint, and brushed it across the characters. Was this a factory process to call attention to the winding instructions? I have seen the letters on drums in photos highlighted many times and thought it was just done for photo or display purposes. I am sure this was not done buy the previous owner, and no other letters have been "highlighted". Any thoughts?

Is this a Colt lever? What's it worth. No markings. Pointed checkering. It was rusty so I had soaked it in Kroil and scrubbed it with a bronze brush. Fair amount of pitting and still a little rust left. The top side is not too bad looking. Would be a good part for a display gun maybe. Are they hard to come by?

Colt patent date magazines
mgvince replied to Bridgeport28A1's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
There are two patent date mags for sale at a local gun show. Will have to go back Sunday to look closer at them. They are in fair condition, with finish loss and some minor pitting. I don't really have interest in them. But I would buy them if anyone thought it was a good a good value and wanted them. Price I believe was $100 or $120 each. I will go over my TUTB. to see if I can tell which variation they are. I know it's late but I'll check this thread tomorrow. -

I can't understand why someone hasn't jumped all over that! If it wasn't for the local pick up thing, that would have been mine -
What would you pay for this Savage?
mgvince replied to mgvince's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
OCM… Shhhhh Who said the wife knows. Yes it was discussed with the wife. She knows I don't jump on the first thing I see. I've done a lot reading on the board. Bought The Ultimate Thompson and AT II and Tom's Great Britain The Tommy Gun Story. And have Doug's Shop Manual on the way. Also conversations with some great board members. A Thompson has been something I've wanted for a long time. I know I will be very with this one.
