  1. Interord, Thanks for the reply and link, 15 years of owning nfa items and having a C&R license I never saw nor knew that they actually had an NFA handbook. Thanks!!
  2. B_san, Thank you for the clarification. A recent conversation concerning my move out of Mass into NH prompted the question of how long I can do a 5320 to bring things out of state, the NFA rep had told me 364 or it would be a permanent move. Just like the FFL regulation book they really should do something for NFA owners. Misinformation is worse than no information.
  3. I usually do put in a 5320 for the 364 days (a full 365 is not allowed, thats straight from the NFA branch) however short suspense things come up, and with return times being 4weeks plus, it would have been nice to get a definitive answer on what I can do with my license. As far as side trips, the destination state is what Ive been led to understand is ok, side trips along the way are not a good idea. Passing through restricted states is fine.
  4. Does anyone gave any recommendations for a decent vertical grip? I saw the repros that IMA and Sarco are selling, but am leary to buy either. Combing the boards here I saw a lot of mention of Dan Block making a quality repro, but did not find any contact info. Is he still making them and any good info on how to get in touch? Thanks, Gregg
  5. A much better solution is to change the top radius of the magazine catch so you can use original unmodified magazines. I have done so with my west hurley and my kahr, works fine. They are re-popping magazine latches, so in the event you dont take your time and mess up its easy to get another. As many of the guys mentioned, you dont want to alter original (irreplaceable) magazines. Gregg
  6. Roscoe, Thanks for the response, im talking just a short visit for a shoot or something, then back home, same same? I wanted to make sure it was understood that Im not looking at a permanent move.
  7. Good morning, Ive had my C&R license for just about 15 years. I now own a C&R 1928 thompson. I know I can buy things through interstate commerce on my license, but can I take my Thompson out of state without filing a 5320 being a licensee? Thanks, Gregg
  8. TD, Thanks for the encouragement, I know a lot of .22 kits in anything can be finicky. Btw, I did get your pm and will get that out to you shortly!
  9. Grasshopper, Thanks for the tip. Ill check that in the next evening or two when I get in. Unfortunately the pics wont display but it might be because Im looking on my phone. I shot it a little yesterday and after some fiddling with the barrel nut it ran pretty good save for 2 or 3 misfires. I was shooting cci blazer and fired 3 drums and 4 sticks total. Im wondering if too much or too little tension on the barrel nut is the culprit. I know its not rocket science to install but cant help but feel its something Im doing.
  10. Gawd!! Mine would chamber and show good primer hits, but wouldnt fire. Today I played with it some more and seem to have it running. Even though the barrel has the cut for the ejector to clear, I pulled it. I also tried the included shorter spring, but ended up just using the spring I normally do for .45acp. I also removed the sheetmetal/felt oiler and am using the pilot without the red buffer disc. I basically tried each if these things systematically until it would consistently go off. I also noticed that the barrel retaining nut does not need to be super tight and wonder-if maybe it had been over tightened affecting the headspace. Anyway, fired 4 black dog sticks and a 50 round drum with only a couple of hickups. Not a hundred percent sold on it yet, but we have company for the holiday weekend and will go to the range tomorrow. Happy independence day all!
  11. Is the headspace adjustable? The previous owner had Merle do some work on it and it ran prior to my ownership. Mine has what Im guessing is the groove to enable installation without having to remove the ejector, though I found that it was difficult to install the .22 barrel without doing so. I have been able to get sporadic bursts to go, but it is so inconsistent that Im not even sure where to start troubleshooting it. I have several of the black dog stick magazines and 2 of the drums.
  12. Deerslayer, The bolt falls, looks like good primer strikes, does not go off. That is with the winchester bulk pack and federal plated hollow points. As to what spring Im using one was included in the kit and I have no idea who made it or how to ID it. Sorry for the late response, as always appreciate the help.
  13. Good morning all, I had bought a Bitokopher .22 conversion with my 1928A1, having a hard time getting it to run. Ive tried winchester and federal. I did get a couple of box tops with it from the seller (which came from Merle) but the green box Remington seems to have dried up and I tried the winchester stuff that is available. Apologies if this has been covered somewhere, but there are too many posts for me to sift through on government time 😉 Thanks, Gregg
  14. Ryo and all, Got one of the Numerich Taiwanese drums, unbelievable... runs awesome! Goes right in, locks up, no jams, not sure how Kahr cant seem to get it right. That being said, will be putting 3 of my 4 Kahr drums up for sale. Thank you again for the advice. Gregg
  15. Ryo, Thanks for the info on the numerich drums, I was taking a chance and feel better about the purchase. More to follow once its in my hands.
  16. Quite right, one of the many gems that came with this was a Bitikofer .22 conversion, 2 black dog drums and 13 blackdog stick magazines. The one .45 drum that was close to fitting was what looks like a Numerich drum that had the rails adjusted.. i have 2 newer Kahr drums and an unmarked drum (no thompson bullet logo). Numerich has what looks like what of the Taiwanese drums that were discussed and Ive ordered one to give it a try, pics of all to follow
  17. Hey guys, thanks for the responses, yes Jim.. the bolt was back. Ill post pictures this evening of the drums that I have. I do know that 1 of the 2 that I got with the gun is definitely a repro, the other two I have are Kahrs that I got with my semi autos years ago. trim.0761CC58-0C15-4604-89C7-784C5ABED3E6.MOV
  18. Hey folks, proud new owner of a Bridgeport 1928A1, form4 came back the other day and shot it for the first time last night. Its a late production gun, stamped rear sight, plain (unfinned barrel) dulite finish, s/n AO122xxx. It came with 2 L drums among other things, and neither one fits in the gun. I suspect both are repros. They bind going into the drum tracks and I know enough not to force them. I looked around and apologies if this has been covered somewhere, but I couldnt find it if it was. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
  19. Success!! It lives... trim.FBE73425-26F5-4CA6-A603-15001429ACA7.MOV
  20. Well... after many trials and tribulations i aquired two bolts, neither of which were complete. One is original and the other appears to be brand new/ new manufacture. I pulled what I needed off of the broken one and made the original complete. It head spaces and cycles dummies out of both original 20 rounders and my keystone christie mags.... hopefully out for a test fire today.
  21. Posted already, but mine also broke in the same manner... 106251
  22. Hey Folks, apparently this is the time of year for broken bolts. I'm on the hunt for a replacement for my gun. I've checked with numerich and Sarco with no luck, and Keystone Joe said he might come up with one but wasn't sure. Any still floating around out there? Thanks, Gregg
