Low Shooting TM1
95mustang replied to vanvock's topic in Thompson Semi-Auto Discussion Forum (West Hurley & Kahr Semis)
Look for a gap under the straight edge right in the vicinity of the mag slot/ejection port area. A warped receiver is going to show the barrel pointing up which will have the same effect on bullet As too tall of front sight mine shoots to point of aim pretty reliably but you can fit a pc of paper under the straight edge right where the ejection port is and its a steel receiver i highly suspect that this is where the problem lies. especially with an aluminum receiver . the cure will be to shim under the rear sight as you mentioned or......................... get another receiver , preferably steel -
Low Shooting TM1

How low does it shoot at 25 yds ? I would first check if barrel is square to receiver. Could have bad threads in receiver not concentric to Receiver. Lay a straight edge like a metal ruler down on top of receiver and then give it the ol hairy eyeball look and see if the barrel is aligned with receiver -

what you are doing is pounding a pc of lead into the bore so you can measure it with a micrometer if you get .444 you are on the high side of the tolerance for a tommy gun barrel if you see .452 you have a shotgun barrel with little to no rifling left . so anything near the rifling dimension at the breech end is going to cause pressure loss from behind the bullet you can't seal the bore if it's worn out bigger than the average 45 caliber slug at 451 that measly little .oo4 a side is very important to keep the gas behind the bullet for reference a piece of paper averages about .005 thick

with a 3 5/8 ths approx mounting hole space .......it's a 1928 buttstock and attaches to a bracket that slides onto the 1928 frame more than likely it was /is a USGI surplus ww2 stock . there are tons of em out there the other style was for an m1 or m1a1 and bolted directly to the m1 frame , the mounting holes are only 2 inches apart on an m1 buttstock -

Need some help
95mustang replied to tynman's topic in Thompson Semi-Auto Discussion Forum (West Hurley & Kahr Semis)
I would start with 2 new springs And I don't see why a sear from one of the kahr guns wouldn't work, unless I'm missing something -

ok .. I found that mine only likes the heavy duty OEM original springs best . But I have discovered the trick to making mine run flawless was to make sure the magazines have a little bit of up and down movement to them when locked in , wiggle room if you will . without that little bit of wiggle the bolt rides to hard on the loaded mags and it slows it down enough that bullets dont have a prayer to make it up the feed ramp . you need enough wiggle room to ease the pressure on the bolt while still keeping the mag high enough in the engagement so the bolt can strip rounds from the mag . take a round file to the top edge of mag catch hole , it only takes a few strokes to get the wiggle you need watch some you tubes of a thompson running full auto in slow motion .........that magazine needs to fit loose as a goose

I just now measured this for you ................... a ring sight is the same height as an original Cutts compensator . using a dial caliper and eyballing to center of barrel I get basically 1.050 on either , to the top of the blade from center of barrel and that is the dimension that is also on the print for the front sight 1.050
