Forgot, my OOW A1918 came with both a flash hider and a thread protector. Maybe OOW might have a few thread protectors left over from the A1918’s? Long shot probably though.

I saw an image this week somewhere on the internet of a BAR that had a mount where the rear sight goes. Picture wasn’t detailed enough to make out the mount. OOW’s HCAR picatinny mount probably fits the A1918 and M1918a3. Griffen and Howe make a side mount for a flat sided receiver. I would imagine that if the Army had wanted to scope the BAR, they would have started with the guys that were making the M1C mounts.

OOW makes a 16” BAR, just not in the configuration you want. I would imagine they have most of the parts to assemble one very close to what you want. Whatever parts they don’t have, BMG or Apex might have. The question is does OOW have time for a custom build? They would be my first call. Deerslayer would be my second call. He could build that for you from an M1918a3 or a A1918. The A1918 would be easier to do since it is a semi M1918. You can check out some of his BAR and Colt R80 Monitor builds on YouTube. “After the Great War Sweden bought some BAR m/1918 from Colt manufacturing Co. in USA made to Swedish specifications. The most obvious difference was a removable pistol grip on the Swedish gun.” Aren’t many of the Swedish M/21 and Colt M1918 made BAR parts interchangeable? It would make sense that 1911 grip screws and bushings would work.

I’m no expert; but, isn’t that an R-75A Barrel? I wonder if it was built off a parts kit; or, it’s a mix of found assorted parts?

Last night as I was going to bed I received an emailed invoice from BMG for $1000 worth of .50 cal M2 parts. It was for someone in Texas with my last name. We got the snafu figured out, no big deal. Then just as we were laughing about the mistake, he mentioned they have just received reproduction Browning M1918a2 Monopods in stock. As I have a monopod and my wife was already laying in bed waiting for me to turn the lights off, I didnt ask the price. Just thought the BAR board would like to know. We had a pretty big family shoot today. Took out the A1918 for the first time and sighted it in. Then started ringing some steel. Could hit the steel pig at 270 yards about 2/3s of the time. Rifle was 100% reliable; but, I had two things I wasnt happy about. The trigger is just horrible. Feels likes its 8 or 9 pounds. Not sure if anything can be done about this. The M1918 rear stock sucks too. The top of the stock comes up too high; so, in order to use the sights at 100 yards you are pressing down hard on your cheek. Ever shot is like taking a punch to the cheek. Im going to slide on an A2 stock before the next outing. One of my son in laws is an Ex-Marine infantry, three combat tours to the Middle East. He had a huge grin on his face after tearing up the steel pig! Had to get his picture taken with it for his buddies.

The pistol grip trigger housing would be nice too!!!!!

But, what we really want. A fore grip that can screw on & off quickly:

The OOW A1918 and the Colt 1911 are reproductions; but, the uniform is real. It fits too! Need some Pershing boots and the BAR Belt next.

I wonder if you could just get one from OOW? They have a picatinny mount for the HCAR.

I find it amazing that OOW found enough original parts to put together A1918s. Mine has an original Winchester Barrel. I need a gunners belt next.

Ive searched quite a bit to find out how many OOW A1918s were produced; but, havent found any definitive numbers. Anyone know for certain. Also, are there any other members here that own one? I have #40. Mike
