  1. QUOTE (ted @ Jan 25 2006, 06:23 PM) Hi, I have a rare Mp40 Wintertrigger Marked mp & ezd. It has some minor pitting from peroid use but its still in great working condition. These are really hard to find. Its $800. thanks to all. Ted. There's another device called a trigger finger mitten. It's cost $10 ! I wouldn't give you eight bucks for it, let alone $800 ! We may spend thousands on a weapon but none of us are that dumb to give you 800 beans for that thing. Dan G.
  2. QUOTE (Jay Baker @ Jun 19 2005, 06:33 AM) JW, I met the Director to the Patton Mueseum at Fort Mac this past Friday and saw their Stuart. We had 3rd Armored's M5 there and he seemed quite impressed with it. We're making plans to come to Ft Knox's tank battle next year. Maybe we'll run into each other before then. I had a great time at the Atlanta Tank Battle yesterday at Ft Gillem. Y'all should've been there. We could use an Asst. Gunner with a live 1919 for the bow, if, uh, anyone is interested out there. I know this is abit off topic. And quite tardy in a reply. However, for what it's worth....you should know that LAH will not be in support of the Fort Knox Memorial Day weekend reenacting event. We have annually fielded approximately 70-75 Waffen SS reenactors in support of the Fort Knox Museum's above mentioned event. However due to the museum's lack of reenactor support and various bureaucratic requirements it is rumored that we will no longer support the event. Me thinks that without this large contingent of LAH reenactors there will be little left of the event. My observations of the last couple years is that few German reenactors show for the event. Howevr, the show will probably go on. Dan G.
  3. QUOTE (Roland the Thompsongunner @ Aug 24 2005, 07:49 AM) Hello, IMA sells a bolt and recoil mechanism assy from a different gun (Vigneron??) and it works real well. You have to change the operating spring to the original german one because the new one is a little too stiff. The whole setup is 100 bucks which is way cheaper than orig german parts. Dan You don't have to swap out the operating (recoil) spring on the IMA bolt. I bought the bolt assembly and threw it into my MP40. Pulled the trigger and the damn thing just ran away. Had no clue as to why it would do that. Re-installed my C&R, original bolt assembly and the weapon fired fine. The recoil spring is TOO strong. Take the weapon to any competent gunsmith who has a range available and have him weaken it to about 11.5 pounds. Or as suggested replace the new spring with your old one. Whichever you choose to do. Dan G.
  4. Perhaps you have a recoil spring that is too weak ? If you know someone with an MP40 I'd swap their bolt assembly into your weapon. Load up that Winchester stuff that you're buying from ChinaMart (btw why not just shop at Kmart ?) and see if the weapon still jams. I don't believe it's the mags or the extractor at all. Now if you can't find a bud with an MP40 go to IMA and order one of their postwar, Portuguese MP40 bolt assemblies. Will come to you all covered in cosmoline and wrapped in plastic. At this point you only stand to lose another 100 bucks. Dan G.
  5. In IRAQ, on the bottom of the Tigris River. I've spoken with a couple of Pennsylvania Army Guardsman who've recently returned from the the landfill commonly referred to as IRAQ. They tell me tales of captured German firearms, galore ! Seems that the boys are capturing literally tons of weapons we would all drool over given the chance to own. Dumping MP40s, 44s, MG 42s and other historical weapons that should be allowed back here as war trophies. Yep...just take a trip to IRAQ and bring your snorkel and fins. Lots of parts kits on the bottom of the riverbed. Dan G.
  6. What amazes me about British subjects is that you all have had the opportunity to vote OUT the bums that take away your God-given rights. Rather than FIGHT to maintain what little inalienable rights you have left, you just shrug your shoulders and modify your hobbies, your life, to comply with your government. When Adolf Hitler started giving you guys a rough time of it back in WW2 WE, the United States, had to provide you arms with which to defend yourselves with. Well, you could always move here. Don't need no imigration papers or nothing bureaucratic. Just take a flight to Mexico, pack up your hiking shoes, and a two quart canteen of water, and walk across our southern border. It's a snap ! Dan G.
  7. I know of a local dealer at a nearby gun show who has had two loaders available for more than a year. He has asked 75 beans for each. Both times I checked with him I thought the price too high. At this point I'm going to see if he has the loaders at the next show. If he has them for 75ea and they're in the condition I remember them to be, I'm going to grab them both. Dan G.
  8. Reading this debate I've come to one conclusion. Either side is correct. While there are more pictorial examples of the sling on the right side of the weapon, fact of the matter is the weapon was designed for the sling to be used on either side. Good manufacturing techniques dictate certain standards and procedures. Certainly the decision was made to put the sling mount to the right to maintain manufacturing standards. As a reenactor, a long-time gun enthusiast, and retired Army NCO I've always thought of carrying my weapon in the most practical way to allow for immediate target engagement. My MP40 sling is on the left allowing me, as a right-hander, to engage targets quickly and easily. If the MP40 came from the manufacturer with the sling mount to the right, chances are it stayed there because the unit armorer either didn't have the time to change it on the whim of an ordinary trooper, unit SOP dictated that it not be changed, or both. For my two cents....sling it on the side you are most comfortable with. And always remember to check the chamber. Dan G. Reenacting with the LAH Lovin' my historic, C & R, BNZ 43

  10. QUOTE (mp40 9mm @ May 15 2005, 07:21 PM) actually live in PA, still lots of rural land around most of the state if you don't live around pittsburgh or philadelphia I'm in the Erie area (tundra). Nice to hear from you. Weather sucks up here all the time ! Dan G. Girard, PA BNZ43
  11. QUOTE (renovate7 @ May 22 2005, 09:49 PM) What's the going price for mags and who is the best source? I too would recommend BRP Corp (brpguns.com) They've been a good vendor. I bought 1/2 dozen mags from them. They have wonderful MP40 mags in every code you could desire. If I recall I believe I paid 40 bucks each by buying 6 or more. Anyway....the mags originate from the former Yugoslavia government. Story goes like this: Germans occupy Yugoslavia. Stockpile arms, ammo, parts. Germans lose war. We win. Allies capture German war stocks. Allies (Americans) occupy Yugoslavia. Allies "give" Tito captured German war booty for Yugo military. Several years later Tito comes under Soviet umbrella. Commies give Tito NEW weaponry. Captured German war booty is retired to Yugo warehouses. Cosmolined, boxed, stored (never can have too many guns, magazines or motorcycles) Fifty years later panty-waisted American politicians are trying to keep guns and such from the hands of law-abiding American citizens. But to help out the former Commies of Yugoslavia we let them now import the same items the Clinton gun ban of '94 kept from our hands (large cap mags). To our joy brpguns.com gets a shipment some months ago of more than 2,000 MP40 mags. Used but in wonderful, cosmolined condition. Plan on spending alot of time disassembling the mags as the springs and innards are filled with grease. But when clean....they're NICE. Okay lurkers.....sorry for the long-winded story. But I haven't posted for awhile and I'm awake at 0200 hours unable to sleep. Enjoy the mags but don't delay. I'm sure selected codes are disappearing. I got just what I wanted as they called me when the mags arrived. Dan G. Girard, PA All-matching #'ed, BNZ43
  12. QUOTE (Hawkeye_Joe @ Mar 3 2005, 02:39 PM) How much do you want to pay for this sight hood? I know where some are, but they are not cheap. I've found some for 40.00 and some for 110.00... Perhaps you could post here the sight hood locations you've found ? Dan G. Girard, PA USA
  13. QUOTE (tomp38 @ Mar 3 2005, 10:12 AM) I agree Delta. Im currently serving a 30 day suspension for attempting to sell an MP44 magazine. I'm sure ebay is right though, there are probably many criminals looking for MP44 mags to add to their $15,000 60 year old weapons to rob banks with. Tomp...there are so many gun owners who think they can't lose their firearms. I know so many who are not only willing to do nothing but ask me why "you need" an AR15 or God forbid...an MP40 ? I generally ask them why the hell they need a V8 in a four wheel drive p/u that has a bed that's never seen cargo. Regarding your suspension from Ebay. Why don't you tell them to take a flying F + + + ! But I bet you aren't willing to do that, are you ? Later. Dan G. Girard, PA USA
  14. A few days ago our fellow board member, Junglewalk, e-mailed me to let me know there was an MP40 sight hood on Ebay. Junglewalk had remembered I was looking for a sight hood and thought he could help me find one (I still don't have one)....thank you Junglewalk. However, a couple days after I posted my bid I received an e-mail from Ebay's Customer Support (Trust & Safety Department....what a joke) that the offer was pulled because it didn't meet Ebay's guidelines ! Evidently it was FIREARM related and thus the hypocritical "Trust & Safety" department didn't approve. My question to the forum is this: When are WE going to start supporting the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution and stop patronizing Ebay ? ? It seems to me that so many of us are willing to shrug our shoulders at Ebay because they "offer" something we want. Yet all the while they are anti-firearm, anti-2d Amendment, and blatant supporters of Handgun Control, Inc (Sarah Brady's gun-grabbing organization). Perhaps we are no better than Ebay ? That we too are hypocrits ? I know I have steadfastly refused to do business with Ebay until Junglewalk told me of the sight hood. Then I thought: "oh, what the hell." So much for that. In closing out this message I want to encourage you all to consider standing by your values and beliefs. If you cherish your ability to own firearms, Class III especially, don't you think it's time to start acting that way ? Patronizing Ebay is NOT one of them. OH....and if anyone knows of a sight hood that's available, please let me know. Thanks again Junglewalk. Dan G. Girard, PA USA PS: The forum owner uses PAYPAL for donations. Hehehehehe...see, it's to his convenience....but it's owned and operated by the same anti-gunners who own Ebay.
