  1. Thanks for your inputs. JJX, I stated that it is an M3, not an M3A1. You can barely see "Guide.." in the picture. I built this up around an old receiver and barrel, no idea about its origin. Balder
  2. Congrats on a nice-looking BREN Mk I! Here's mine, same maker and year. Serial # P40XX - is yours far from this? -Balder
  3. I have this rather crude M3, serial # 4539XX. Any idea when it was made? -Balder
  4. Annihilator, I wish I knew, this is all the information I have. There's no broad arrow or British proofing visible, but the metal is quite worn at places. Balder
  5. A friend recently got this deactivated M1928A1, supposedly recovered from a lake in Austria. Part of the story is that it served with the British 1st Airborne (Red Devils). Opinions, anyone? Production date? Balder Edit: Sorry about the picture orientation.
  6. Which is older? I would guess the brass one which I also prefer in use. Please excuse the rather crappy picture quality, best I could do right now Balder Edit: There was supposed to be a picture here, of a brass handle magazine filler as well as the one discussed above. No direct picture upload to this site? Edit 2: Trying Photobucket: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/Balder_/STEN-gun/P1170763_zpsnk7f2dxa.jpg
  7. Happy belated birthday David - thanks for keeping this board in shape and good running order! Balder
  8. The serial number puts it right in the range of the early 1940 deliveries to the UK. Balder
  9. Gentlemen, Thanks for all your input! The owner of the M1 has registered here and is awaiting approval from an admin. I'm sure he'll chime in when he's approved. Balder
  10. Thanks Andrew. This has supposedly been sitting unused in an Ukrainian arsenal since WW2. But Savage? I thought all Thompsons made by Savage had an "S" prefix to their serial numbers? Balder
  11. A friend just got this from the Ukraine. It is now deactivated, unfortunately. Any thoughts about production date and other details? Balder
  12. My S-245XX, British used, has the sight rivets in the white. The gun is original and I have no reason to believe that the rear sight has been tampered with or re-riveted. Balder
  13. Gentlemen, A friend needs help with the wood on this one. What kind of oil/wax/whatever should he use on this sanded and original wood? The gun is mostly made up of a 1928 recently recovered from a lake here in Norway. Balder
  14. Angus, thanks. I made it from leftover oak after I made new kitchen countertops. Balder
  15. I finally found the time to make a rather minimalistic stand for my deactivated Savage M1928A1. Balder
  16. Black River, I can see those points with the felt/asbestos padded versions. But the plain canvas one can't really do much other than protect the jacket from scratches and dings. Balder
  17. Thanks for your inputs. I can't help wondering how effective such a cover would actually be in the roles you describe. But I guess I need to get one, regardless 1942 Lithgow Balder http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/Balder_/Machineguns/vickers-1.jpg
  18. Gentlemen, I am the fortunate owner of a Vickers, but I've never really found out the purpose of the cover for the water jacket, as seen in several pictures. Protection from scratches and possible punctures in the jacket? Balder
  19. Roscoe, A 1942 Lithgow in pretty good condition Balder http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/Balder_/Machineguns/vickers-1.jpg
  20. Whatever happened to the Vickers forum? Too little activity? I miss it Balder
  21. Thanks for your inputs, I got another one on its way as well. Even though all of my three are made at Fazakerly, I guess beggars can't be choosers. An incorrect front sight is better than no front sight. Balder
  22. Two of my three Mk 2s are missing the front sight. Got this replacement but unsure if it's original. Anyone? Balder
