  1. The WWII carbine pouches would be a really tight fit for Garand clips. The post war version issued during Korea would fit the Garand clips as well as the carbine mags. YMMV.
  2. Nice grab, Sam! Is the lower kinda a purple color or is the photo playing tricks on me? How are the parts marked?
  3. :agree: Ya took the words right out of my mouth. I currently work in the Houston area and we have a hard enough time getting the US Atty to take violent criminals and 924(e) cases (mandatory minimum 15 year sentences). You have to pick your battles.
  4. In 2001, I went to the War and Peace Show in jolly ole England and saw many 'Deacts' for sale on vendors tables. The UK has two different versions of demilling firearms and the old style commands more money over there. The sellers had no qualms selling to a Yank and it would be up to me to get it back to the States. I have also seen British 'Deacts' for sale on various websites so the possibility of getting one past Customs could happen.
  5. I thought I'd chime in on this. Now nothing I say can be held as gospel but I can give you one agent's view on the item. I have seen some guns cut up like this and, at one time, the saw cuts were kosher. Not any more. If I were to run across this situation I would have him abandon the center section and all would be good. Another agent may try to prosecute this guy for having 'parts readily restorable into a working firearm'. I think it would be a monumental waste of time and resources. I would steer clear of it if I were looking for parts. I imagine that Doug R., ReconBob and others here could get that gun working in a day or so. Change out the barrel, bolt and 6 decent blobs of weld and that thing would be functioning again.
  6. The case is sold pending funds. Thanks for all who looked at it. Greg
  7. Try Omega Weapons Systems They have both finned and smooth barrels listed among the goodies on their website.
  8. Guys, I have a recent aquisition that needs a proper home. Its a Federal Labs hard case for the Reising. The outside of the case is in great shape. It even has a label on the end with a serial number. The interior is missing a couple of the blocks and it has no felt. The handle and latches are in strong condition. This would be a great winter project for one of you proud owners. I'm looking at $350 + shipping. See the pics below. Let me know if you need any detailed pics or other info. Sorry for the large pics. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/1Raider75/DSC00618.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/1Raider75/DSC00619.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/1Raider75/DSC00620.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/1Raider75/DSC00621.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m177/1Raider75/DSC00623.jpg
  9. {jimmy cagney} You dirty rat! {/jimmy cagney} Seriously, great score.
  10. I received my case yesterday and all I can say is 'Wow!'. The skill of the craftsman and his attention to detail is unsurpassed. Dan, thanks for a great product. For those who are still waiting for their cases, you will not be disappointed. Greg
  11. An instant classic to be shown every holiday season.
  12. Dan, Those are some snazzy looking cases! Can't wait to see it in person. Greg
  13. Great pics, Anticus! That is exactly like my setup also done by PK. The man is a genius with the TSMG. He came up with the system while on the phone with me when he called to discuss the rehab on my gun. Simple but effective. I have never had a problem with the setup but I keep an eye on the set screw to make sure it doesn't loosen up while firing. I hasn't done it yet but I still give it a look-see every so often just in case.
  14. Bob, I have a WH 28 that is blank adapted. I had Paul (PK) set me up with a quick change system so I can swap out the barrel to go from blanks to live. I will have to break out the measuring tools to see what orifice size I use. When I shoot blanks, I use a Blish lock that has the ears removed in a '28 bolt. Search the site for pics of my gun with the barrel change system. You may want to go that route.
  15. I'm actually glad that WH cut the corners that they did. If thy had not, my WH M1 would probably not needed the trip to PK for rework and refinishing! :agree: So very true!!
  16. Hawk, You probably caught the Saber. You can score with any part of the blade. In Epee and Foil, you can only score with the point of the blade. More finesse and skill in those events. Saber is just what you saw, cut, slash and run.
  17. I was flipping between USA Network, NBC and MSNBC and found the Men's Trap the other day. Beats the hell out of Whitewater rafting. I personally like to watch Fencing but they don't seem to show that either. It's sad as the US Women medaled 1-2-3 in Individual Saber. What happened to the good ol days of Wide World of Sports. They showed all the events.
  18. I can hardly wait to get one. It will sure beat the case I'm using now.
  19. Bob is correct. I have a 1911 that is blanked and you have to remove the locking lugs from the slide and barrel, change the swinging link system to a basic blowback system, restrict the barrel, and open up the ejection port so the empties don't get hung up. It aint pretty but it works. I have a another barrel and slide that I use to shoot live rounds thru. Re: ISS. I have a friend in the movie business and he rents all sorts of firearms from ISS. At first he was not licensed but later got his FFL and paid the SOT as a dealer. Many of the prop masters and armorers for movies are not licensed at all and ISS will ship directly to them at the shooting location. My guess is that they (ISS) are playing fast and loose with the rules and if someone took them to task on it, they would have alot of questions to answer.
  20. Dan, Try searching for any posts from 'Blanksguy'. Richard Satterfield makes blanks and has done a ton of research on the subject. I have used his and they work great. He seems willing to share his info with other folks.
  21. Another item to check is the firing pin and FP spring. When I got my GI bolt, the hole where the FP goes (along with the FP and spring) was so clogged up with grease/cosmoline that it would barely move. Give it a good scrubbing and a shot or two of brake cleaner down the hole wouldn't hurt. Reoil and assemble and you should be G-T-G.
  22. Bill, I got a USAF SP badge if you are interested. Greg
  23. I took my latest paperwork to the High Sheriff on Wednesday and picked it up this morning. Not too shabby.
