  1. Hey Norm- I have a very similar configuration. I have the CAC-9 on a SWD M10-A1 that is registered in 9mm and .45 ACP (currently configured as 9mm for the can). In fact, I just shot it tonight. For a cheap little buzz gun - they fire very well in my opinion. I had a very tight group tonight and completely punched out the center of the target at about a 4" diameter. For aftermarket sources - Sam at Practical Soulutions is the man. He is a full service MAC guy, makes his own accessories and lives right around the corner from me (I can vouch for him). He reparked my MAC and did a little work for me Friday. In fact, he is the guy who does the UZI mac conversions and handled your gun. I purchased my MAC NIB from him a few years back as well as a few other NFA goodies. He is a heck of a good guy. He used to share the same space with Craig Wheatley (Tactical Innovations) until he got out of this state and went out west. As accessories go, I have his "flip grip" which gives you a front vertical grip and can be flipped up when not in use. I also have his buffers installed, the paddle mag release (I am not UZI grip converted) and his folding UZI stock. I also ordered a bunch of accessories from Cobray themselves, such as a mag pouch, nomex supressor cover, a thread protector, etc. Both Practical Solutions and Cobray have websites - Cobray you can order online. I think you have to email Sam but his webpage is good. www.cobray.com www.practicalpage.com/ I didn't get the UZI conversion. Since my gun was a SWD model, it used the dreaded Zytel (plastic) magazines. Those caused misfeeds on just about every mag. I picked up some steel mags from Jerry Prasser out of state and I use them in the gun now. They work great and were only a few dollars per mag. They are "Argentinian" magazines... sometimes people call them "South African" mags. I hope this helps Norm. Let me know if you found any goodies too. The nomex supressor cover from Cobray is for a two stage can - I am looking for a better fit single stage cover for my CAC-9. Chris. P.S. - I have heard rumors about an "American 180" like .22 cal upper receiver for the MAC-10 that is ultra high compacity that uses AM180 drums, like what Craig Wheatley makes for the AR-15/M-16's. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.tacticalinc.com/am15-upper-rece...ar15-p-420.html
  2. Phil- As you stated, this is 100% true. The topic was West Hurleys, hence why I didn't say it. I didn't want to confuse it further. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Chris.
  3. Bob is correct - there isn't quite a nice a feeling as having a machine gun received at your front door. In my case, a local C3 will charge $100 to $150 to do the transfer. For thirty bucks for three years, you cannot go wrong. You still have to submit the paperwork to the ATF with the 200 dollar check and the fingerprints, passport photos, certificate of compliance, etc. Once the seller receives the approved F4's, the gun can legally be shipped to your FFL address. Log it in the day it comes to your bound book and you are in buisness. It is also nice for getting non-NFA goodies such as P-38's, 1911's, Enfields, etc directly to you with out going through a dealer. Another nice part of Full Auto and C&R is you can take them to an out of state shoot (provided the state is C3 friendly) without notifying the ATF or doing paperwork. To the original question, All full auto .22 caliber WH Thompsons and all full auto .45 ACP M1/M1A1 Thompsons are C&R approved. The "commemorative 1928" models, such as the ass-ugly WW2 and vietnam models are on the list as well. The stock 1928 models ARE NOT approved as of today. The ATF granted and then revoked the ruling so if you want to buy a 1928, it has to go through a local C3 dealer, like a MAC or M-16 would. Here is the link to the revocation letter: http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invb...&f=3&t=6393&hl= I did the C&R thing a year or two ago and I live in the notoriously anti-gun state of Maryland in one of the most liberal/anti gun counties(Howard) and still got it done. Let me know if you have any questions - I would be happy to help.
  4. Hey Roland- Get the check book out... and be really nice to Sandy! http://www.machinegunpriceguide.com/assets/images/db_images/db_BARCR1.gif
  5. Tash- You got it, you might as well try it. I have a few full autos but also made up a SBR M1. The worst part is having to drill out mags to make them fit the SA catch - that would probably be the first thing that I would change. Since mine came with a few mags, I shot it until I started the SBR process. I actually had good luck out of the box. I always shoot decent ammo in my guns and have found that a good quality stick or drum makes all the difference in a SA Thompson. Chris.
  6. I believe I have one of Mike's buffers in a gun I have. Even if it isn't, I can say it seems to shoot a little nicer with the poly buffer in it as it appears to absorb some more recoil. I did some testing at the range last week when I swapped them out for curiousity. Maybe I am crazy, but it just seemed run smoother. Mike- Any thoughts of making something for M1's? I understand its a bit more complicated. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif Chris.
  7. Someone like PK can put the metal back. For the patent mag, that is worth it. Chris.
  8. Ron- Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you! Chris.
  9. All- My old bore/chamber brush broke last weekend when I was using it. I know that Gordon has some nice repros available, but since I am more of a shooter than a collector, I am looking for something more functional (synthetic bristles are fine) and not be too pissed off if I break another $35 brush. I remember TSG or CTD had some in stock a while ago, but they don't appear to have any in stock now. Anyone have any sources? Thanks- Chris.
  10. 27 now 32. John Jr. and I have a few things in common. In the safe (for now): M1 WH 1928 WH A few F/A MACs and cans SBR M1 Semi Sold: Reising Bridgeport M1 A few cans
  11. QUOTE In a word.......NO That is not what PK says provided the receiver blish channels are correct and true. Isn't that the point of the delayed blow back mechanism?
  12. The ATF will reject anything that does not have the ORI codes originating from them. You can order them online from the ATF's website. You might as well order 50 or so while you are at it. Chris.
  13. Nick- Try here: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/hearingm_jgi.htm I have the following and it is rated at 31. It is comfortable and works well. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/83016-4500-968.html Hope this helps- Chris.
  14. Ralph- Give this a whirl. It seems to be updated for SC, but not for Michigan so it is somewhat current. http://www.triplebreakproducts.com/FAQ/tit...regulations.htm Hope that helps- Chris.
  15. Anyone find it ironic/fitting that this is on the weekend of the Spring Knob Creek shoot?!? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Chris
  16. I have a big bank account... where can I send you a check? http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/tongue.gif
  17. Any how... distractions aside... Nothing on this list seems to be highly valuable or collectable: QUOTE 2- USGI 5-20 round mag pouches 12- t45/30 mags 7- USGI WWII 20 rnd mags 3- 50 round drum cases 1- 3 mag pouch for t45/30 mags 1- USGI WWII Type 1 M1/M1A1 mint cover 1- 1921/1928 Mills/Rusco Tan mint case 2- New Barrels with Cutt's Comps 1- " " with out Comp 1- Used barrel 3- Forearms & mounts 1- Butt stock 2- Bolt assembly's 5- rear sights 1- oiler 2- Slings Most of the parts don't say original, repro or otherwise. I would assume less is more in this case. I suppose I should probably just get a few more WH guns at the current market value. That is a hell of an investment based on this guys logic. Chris. P.S. Why would anyone have 5 rear sights?
  18. Ron- Well said and good points as always. I appreciate it. It just seems like no one has any fun anymore. People jack prices and misrepresent things. Comments are taken way too literally. Maybe it is time to just sit back and read..... or just get on that nice hog and ride. Chris.
  19. For Christsakes- either you are dense or are still looking for a fight. Definition: "Sarcasm is sneering, jesting, or mocking a person, situation or thing. It is often used in a humorous or ironic manner and is expressed through vocal intonations such as over-emphasizing the actual statement or particular words." I am neither black nor do I have an afro. My point through sarcasm is saying "you cannot lose" is pretty well off the mark... just like saying the sky isn't blue. It would be a shame after someone may pay 30K for this. Man, you seem to really have it out for me. Lighten up. I didn't know you were now the PC police too. It must be the Ohio thing... http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/smile.gif
  20. http://www.subguns.com/classifieds/index.c...query=retrieval Can anyone tell me what is so special about this? I think it is overvalued by about 13K or so. Just remember ... "you will not lose on this deal"... yeah, and I am black with an afro. I must be getting cynical in my old age.
  21. It is "pinned" and always at the top of the forum list. It is the third message from the bottom of the post listing of the pinned subjects. It is always above the lastest thread. " Pinned Topics! Thompson FAQ: Check Here First Frequently Asked (Thompson) Questions The1930sRust 0 2810 7th July 2004 - 05:39 PM Last Post by: The1930sRust" http://home.comcast.net/~cbachman/faq.JPG
  22. Yes. I have not heard if the issue was ever resolved. http://home.comcast.net/~tca1934/images/ATF%20Rescind%20ltr.jpg
  23. I actually didn't order the UTX70 based on the below. I changed my mind and went with a conventional fixed blade because it was bigger. Robert was cool about it and I caught him before the order went out. Oh well, maybe I will look into it some other time. Tommys are enough! Lots of good (and expensive) knives are out there. This one will do fine for most around the house stuff for now. Chris.
  24. Hi Mohawk- You might want to get in touch with Deerslayer on this board. He has been known to work with .22 drums and might have other alternatives too. Chris.
  25. Z3- Saying I may shoot my Thompson does not equal the fact that I did shoot my Thompson. He asked for help determining a price, not for soliciting offers on something he may do in the future. It seems like the request for help was ignored for the potential of adding a gun to an individuals collection. I was being tounge-in-cheek with my fake email and pointing out an example of people jumping to conclusions. It had nothing to do with aution prices or someone being cheap (other than Thompson greed)- my concern was that someone might take advantage of the potential and offer to buy it outright and undervalued if no one had answered his question... in this forum... which is exactly what the original post wanted. I must have missed the "Please send me your offers" part of the email. Sorry you think its a low blow, but I have seen it happen in this business before. Just looking out for a board member. If you don't like my answer, sorry - I really don't care. Chris.
